"I am a new patient with VCU and my experiences have been exceptional. Caring, professional, and friendly from registration personnel to MDs. I am thankful to have found such great care!!!"
"Going to any MD at VCU has been a recurrent and consistently bad exp. for 15 years., I'm sure there are some doctors and some instances that they can help you but that is not the norm.. seeing doctors in america is like going to McDonald's for nutritional deficiencies and VCU is a franchise..its culture is to mold all their residents into the same franchise MDs they want serving the public. Do not expect care taylored to you or your specific needs. VCU mds have 5 boxes to choose your problem.. if what's wrong with you is not on their paper they will check the box they think you belong in"
"I will no longer choose to receive services at VCU. I have been a patient of VCU for years and had a very positive experience. Excellent providers and care. However I have had two separate billing instances in the last year that were inappropriately billed and i have had to make no less than 15 phone calls to their billing department to try and correct without any resolve. its unbelievably frustrating. If ANY company billed you double what you should have been billed TWICE, they would be unable to sustain business. It should be no different for health care institutions that they should be held to a standard of honesty and integrity. I will no longer be seeking this institution for my health needs."
"I have been a patient at VCU Health for almost a decade. For the record, health care for me has been good. My wife, well, that is another story. Regardless, there were a number of billing issues over the year, and the utter lack of caring from VCU Health is appalling. My most recent example is going for my Annual, Routine Physical, which has annual labs associated. Everything went as planned, but when I got the bill, I was shocked. My insurance had marked this as a requested doctors visit with treatment. After inquiry, it was VCU who coded the visit wrong to the insurance company who put this to my deductible instead if covering the cost as preventive. When I inquired to VCU, they just dismissed me even though these same items had been coded properly in the passed. My worry for everyone out there is that going to VCU is going to cost you more, VCU does not care about that, and with a massive deficit in budget, even your health services may suffer. I have moved to a different system now in hopes they can at least bill appropriately. If you still go to VCU, please address how they will bill any items they suggest up front or you may have to pay unexpected and dramatic amounts when the bill comes in. Also, do not expect VCU to lift a finger to help you in this matter."
"We came in with shortness of breath and chest pain. There was no EKG done, no cardiologist check. We sat in the ER for 4 hours without being seen. The man next to us had just gotten a pacemaker and was having chest pain and heart palpitations, he was waiting for 5 hours and still hadn’t been seen by a doctor. Horrible service, long waits. Go anywhere but here!!"
