"Steer clear of this emergency room. After my mother was diagnosed with active internal bleeding, she was placed in the ER without a room, waiting for the on-call surgeon. The surgeon arrived 30 hours later, claiming to have been notified just 30 minutes prior. He then informed her that surgery was no longer an option due to the time lapse, recommending a colonoscopy with preparation in a shared community bathroom. When she refused and requested discharge, they advised contacting her health insurance to confirm they would cover, given her decision against medical advice. Despite the dedication of the doctors and nurses, the hospital's conditions pose a risk of negligence. I write this in hopes you avoid this hospital for life-threatening emergencies, because this hospital is not equip to provide the necessary lifesaving care. Luckily, my mom's situation ended up being non-life-threatening. EDIT: My mother is currently at Henrico Doctors Hospital. As stated above, St. Mary's informed her that she was no longer actively bleeding, however, another CT Scan at Henrico revealed that she is still actively bleeding, and now in need of a blood transfusion. The medical team at Henrico has been caring and compassionate, and the overall cleanliness of the hospital exceeds St. Mary's. Most importantly, I'm relieved that my mother feels safe and heard here."

"I know my father went there with pneumonia, and now he doesn't have it. But he leaving now on hospice because of the wrong medication the hospital gave him. Seroque, volume and other medication. Now they deleted files,but I got copy of the medication which was administrative to him. My father is 87 years old. Get ready for because action will be taken."

"I went in on Thursday 1-11-2024 for hip replacement surgery, the nurses on the 5th Sydney, Simone, and Jessica were absolutely the best nurses I have ever had. Sydney was the day nurse and she was so polite and caring I wanted to bring her home with me, then when she got off and Simone came in I thought there’s no way I’ll get 2 good nurses but I was wrong Simone was also very friendly and caring, then Friday morning Sydney was again my day nurse. I was going home by noon because I didn’t have to wait for anyone they were like clockwork occupational therapy came then PT came then Sydney came with my go home instructions.The best experience I’ve ever had and it was totally the nursing staff that make it great for me!!"

"I'm going to talk about my experience. When I got to the emergency room, there was a girl who took care of me very kindly. About 5 minutes passed when they called me and I was treated by a very friendly doctor. Even though I didn't speak Spanish, they were very diligent in communicating with a translator. The nurse who gave me the electrocardiogram was very kind and treated me kindly. He always tried to tell me to relax. Then I was greeted by another nurse for a kind of Tomography and this lady was the nicest thing I have ever seen in my life. In general terms, I have been very well attended /"

"I came in after I felt I was in labor since I was timing my contractions. They admitted me after a cervical check. I had a great experience with the labor and delivery team. I got a nice room and my nurses checked on me multiple times and were very personable. The only thing that I was a bit upset about, is that the morning of me going into labor, which was a Tuesday morning, they only had one OB on staff, and she was in the OR as I was already crowning. Also, it was my first child, which they knew; and I was told at other hospitals, they get assistance with hooking a child in car seat. I had to call up to labor and delivery to get someone to come down to check. They have a lot of food options but they take a long time to bring you your food, and you can’t go down there and get it unless you want to pay, you have to order it with yo your nurse and wait. Some staff enters all the way to give you food, and others just sit it by the doorway so you wouldn’t even know you received it. And sometimes they disregard your order presences."
