People Inc. Abingdon Head Start Center

People Inc. Abingdon Head Start Center, located at 152 Highland Street Southeast in Abingdon, Virginia, is one of eight Head Start centers operated by People Inc. Our center provides early childhood education, health, nutrition, social services, and parent education for income-eligible families with children ages 3 to 4 years old. Our dedicated teachers offer developmental, sensory, and behavioral screenings during enrollment to ensure each child's needs are met.

Parents are encouraged to participate in program governance, volunteer opportunities, and attend parenting training, adult literacy, and career skills classes. We believe in the importance of parental involvement in a child's education and development.

Our Head Start program serves children in Southwest Virginia & Northern Shenandoah regions, while our Early Head Start program supports children up to 3 years of age. We offer developmental, health, and nutrition screenings, as well as parenting education and services for prenatal mothers. Both on-site and home-based options are available for our Early Head Start program.
