Athens Medical Center

"Athens Medical is a circus! Since they became part of the Princeton hospital, they try to funnel patients through WVU for everything. There are less expensive options and better qualified resources. My wife is still waiting for a return phone call and a referral from Athens Medical from back in December. They only want to refer patients to WVU affiliated doctors. If you want a referral to a more highly qualified doctor, plan on waiting a very long time. The office staff has got to be the slowest, laziest bunch of office school rejects. Answering phones is not one of their better skills and don't count on them relaying a message to the doctor. I arrived 15 minutes early this morning for my 8:45 appointment, was told my appointment was 08:00 and that I could not see the doctor today! My wife and I are both done with Athens Medical and WVU. She found better qualified and more responsive medical care in Virginia. Where the doctor himself calls his patients to discuss lab results, the office staff is prompt and efficient, and one of the doctor's first reason for being there is there to help people. Sure do miss Dr. Kassem."

"Rude staff. They will not allow any walk in appointments if you are sick. What Drs. office does that ? They want you to go to student health at the college instead, even when this is the preferred provider listed on the insurance card.Was told by office staff that that’s not what they’re there for, was told that I should probably get another provider, and was hung up on."

"My mother had been going to Athens family med ever since they moved from Princeton. I’m her son and I took her to all of her appointments since she quit driving. I always thought they were very good with her until she recently passed away. They never offered any condolences any sorrow. You are just a warm body and a dollar sign. I would never recommend them to anyone!!"

"I’ve gone here for 3 years. For 3yrs I’ve loved the providers but have struggled with the office manager due to billing issues. First issue was with my daughter which I filed a dispute due to them trying to double dip. Most recently they now have billed my insurance for a regular office visit instead of the well check which was scheduled and from the orders of the ONLY annual labs was obvious. I have now had to file an appeal with my insurance. I tried to reason with Dawn first however she was rude and unwilling to assist she only canceled my upcoming appointment and stated they would send my records. Dr. Yost is great but the office/administrative is a MESS!"

"Been coming here for the past 2yrs since getting health insurance, very nice and clean doctors office. Even though I miss Dr.Kassem, Dr.Aliff is pretty cool, she seems to care and shows you what you need to do to get healthy again, it's up to you to follow her suggestions, she answers all my questions and doubts. Would have gotten 5 stars if it weren't for it being really hard to schedule last minute visits for sudden illnesses, have to go to Med Express."
