"To say that we are disappointed with this vet is an understatement, “the good” they can get you in really quick and good for simple stuff like vaccines. Now THE UGLY: If your pet has anything besides a broken nail or needs vaccinations, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. From the first time we went I didn’t feel comfortable, firs time we went bc a fever, the Dr didn’t want to run blood work bc the dog had blood work done 9 months ago ( geriatric dogs need blood work every 6 months, but he didn’t agree) but since my husband was ok with it and its “his dog” a couple of months ago we took Silox, our 11 yo Malinois that suddenly started losing his ability to use his back legs and rapidly his front legs, we had 3 visits in a matter of two weeks, in which our dog got worse and worse, I felt like I had to ask myself for things that would be very basic, anti inflammatory, pain killers etc, and many times I was the one telling what I thought it was wrong with the dog, in our second visit, I told the vet that I thought it was a neurological issue, he did some simple test, and said that it wasn’t, requested X rays and said that the hips were bad ( nothing new) and that it could be a plectra of different things, but that there was not much to do, than more than likely it was DM and that there was not a test for it ( not true, there is a genetic test to know if your pup carries the gene) so it was just palliative care from now on. We waited another week following the protocol that this vet gave us with rapid decline. I didn’t feel comfortable with that and called other vets, the first one I was able to get him in with, (not even the Dr, but the front desk person) told me that the symptoms were definitely neurological and that he needed to be referred ASAP to a neurologist, that if we wanted we could go there but wasn’t going to be of much help for my dog, we took him still bc there are some test that would be more affordable at a regular vet and I knew they needed to be done before surgery, since more than likely he was going to need spinal cord surgery. The new Dr and staff were so caring and attentive and explained every single thing in detail, checked that he was all go to go into surgery and got us appointment right away for the neurologist. At this point the vet or the clinic didn’t call a single time to check if my dog was still alive, but when I asked for his medical records to be transferred, they called 4 TIMES TO ASK WHY we were transferring our dog and seeking a second opinion, and we had to call them 3 times after to actually get the record released . Silox got his surgery 3 weeks ago, he couldn’t get surgery right away because we needed to reduce the inflammation in his spinal cord before surgery since we waited too long ( vet at this animal hospital said he didn’t need to see the neuro) as a consequence his spinal cord suffered substantial damages that could have been minimized, had the Vet here done a proper diagnosis. Silox is recovering and has a long road ahead, who know if he would ever be able to walk without assistance. I pulled all my dogs from this vet and took them to a way more knowledgeable and carrying vet in the area."
"I have been coming here for20+ years. Best vet I have ever had in my 60+ years of life. Totally Recomind"
"Dr. Rethman is great and always takes his time explaining or answering any questions I have. His staff is also very genuine and love seeing my boys. Malik and Pumba are happy to have such great care here :)"
"I’ve always had a wonderful experience at AMC. I’m grateful a friend recommended them to me. Dr. Rethman and all of his staff truly love animals. They’ll do anything to help them. Their bedside manner in dealing with my dogs is so great. My dogs are a handful, but the staff loves them and treats them like their own. I came to Dr. Rethman most recently with my puppy, Sookie, who had mysteriously fallen into critical condition. I was told I needed to come in to say goodbye just in case. It’s a long story, but Dr. Rethman and one of his tech’s Iesha did everything they could to save my pup, and he did so while communicating every little detail to me throughout her stay. He even stayed overnight with her. Ultimately, he saved her life! He is an angel to our family. Sookie looses her mind when she sees Iesha now because she is also grateful for being saved. Dr. Bartlett is wonderful also. They’ll both always give it to you straight, and in language you can understand. AMC also doesn’t try to upsell you with medications, procedures, and tests. My dogs actually love coming to AMC, and that really says it all!"
"If I could give a million stars I would. The staff here - is irreplaceable. Amanda is FABULOUS. In fact, the WHOLE staff is fabulous. Dr. Rethman was great with my Boxer pup - the staff (not just one) followed up to make sure he was okay after a difficult neuter. I would not only recommend this vet practice... it's the ONLY practice I would recommend. I can't say enough..."
