Reviews of Acoustic Box LLC Banjo Repair Luthier Service
"I've been to Acoustic Box with four different banjos and even taken some banjo lessons. I've recommended friends to him and would trust him with any instrument. Richie is a remarkably skilled Luthier and musician, and he's my first choice for any instrument repair. Richie offers professional, friendly and humorous service, you can't go wrong with Acoystic Box!"
"I can’t recommend these guys enough. Their attention to detail, quality of work, pricing, professionalism, honesty, and variety of services is second to none. I first heard about them several years ago, since almost all of the best banjo players in the business seemed to bring their priceless instruments here. Ever since my first visit, I’ve went here almost exclusively for repairs. They have always went the extra mile to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted, and have kept me well informed along the way. Both Richie and Will are extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the work they do, and are constantly keeping themselves up to date with advancements in technology to continuously improve their craft! Whether it’s a $100 instrument or $100,000 instrument, the quality of their repair work is top notch."
"I just purchased an "old wood" Black Walnut bridge, which I put on a Prucha-First Quality "parts" banjo with a goatskin head. It had always had a "harsh" tone, and the new bridge mellowed and "sweetened" the tone much more to my liking. I'm very pleased with the resulting change the new bridge made. Thanks!!"
"I would give this place 6/5 stars if I could. Over the years, Richie has helped me out more times than I can count. He’s honest, hard working, determined to get things right, but most importantly he is extremely knowledgeable about his craft and the banjos he works on. Any time I ever need any work done on any of my banjos, or need an expert luthier’s opinion, Richie Dotson is always my go-to guy, without question! As for his products, look no further! He has managed to take his extensive knowledge of banjo parts and workings, and apply that directly to produce amazing products. I’m always one to experiment with different things, seeing how they affect tone, but I put a Dotson bridge on my banjo 7 years ago…and I haven’t thought about bridges ever since. Recently, I tried out his Dotson 8’s finger picks. They’re both clearer sounding and easier playing than any other picks I’ve tried. Within a few mins of playing them, my old picks, that I had sworn by for the last 9 years, were tossed in the back of my toolbox! I can say from the bottom of my heart, that Richie’s extensive knowledge, impeccable work, and amazing products have definitely helped me achieve the sound I’ve always been chasing after! A true expert, a skilled craftsman, and a great guy!"
"Highly recommend this company. They answered a phone call on a Saturday, who does that anymore? Followed up by keeping an appointment, I know, once again refreshing. Ended with some of the finest service available. Ritchie and Will were a joy to work with and the professionalism extended was top tier. So very happy with the banjo inlay replacement and neck install on my Gibson. Beautiful job."
