"My boys are really enjoying their classes at Full Circle Kung Fu, their instructor is very patient with them and they have a lot of fun learning!"
"I began my martial arts journey as a complete novice. And now, after training with Sifu Dotson for nearly 5 years, my desire to learn more has only strengthened. The best part of Full Circle is undoubtedly its spirit. A relaxed learning environment led by a teacher who builds you up,no matter your age or skill level ,makes this class a rare jewel where everyone is able to learn at their own pace, and noone is made to feel unwelcome. I personally have had the privilege of practicing with not only Sifu Dotson in this class, but also a variety of different people from all walks of life who share my enthusiasm for martial arts, fellowship and adventure. Folks who have since become my friends and have helped me grow not only as a martial artist, but as a person. The saying is true: "A journey of a thousand mile begins with that first step". In this class you will not only learn Baguazhang, but also about yourself along the way."
"It's been a year since I've started this system and so I feel more comfortable leaving a comment. I was 389lbs when I started. I had ZERO confidence and suffered from extreme anxiety. I believed that there would be no reason to attempt Kung fu due to my size. Then after a few months training with Sifu Joey, my confidence started to sore, I lost around 30 pounds, and I'm entirely too eager to see what lesson he puts out next. I'm still a big guy, but I forget in the moment when I'm performing techniques that I thought were impossible of me. He teaches in a way that allows you, no matter your size or age, to get the most from the lessons. He will allow alternative methods of working out if an established one proves difficult or unreasonably taxing. Joey is patient and rewards the will to work hard. It almost seems like as long as you do your best, he will guarantee that you get there. Joey also believes that regardless of the martial art, effective self defense is a main focus. You could argue that I should have done MMA or something similar for that, but after a year, I feel more confident in my ability to defend myself than I have the last three systems I've tried prior. He encourages sparing and application of technique in live situations. Blah blah blah, he is not a school that omits sparring because he believes pressure testing is key. The class harbors people from all backgrounds, and Joey makes a point to foster comradreie. I've met great peers that I hang out with on a first name basis. Classes aren't so strict where you aren't able to bond with your peers. We even go camping, shooting at the range, and game nights. Tl:Dr I am actually really appreciative of this teacher and group because I didn't realize martial arts could feel so rewarding. It was the sort of kinetic therapy I needed after years of hanging my head."
