"I really thought I was going to like this place. Unfortunately it was definitely a disappointment. First off the initial visit was $80 that’s expensive. All for only 10 minute appointment. With no follow up call. I even called to ask about the follow up still no call or email back. I essentially spent $80 for nothing."
"I don't leave reviews but today was enough to push me to the point of putting in writing my frustration. I get most pet people aren't baby people. But here I am a SAHM, who cares for her little and her animals. First instance with Broad St Vet Hopsital was when I brought our barn cat coaxed into a house cat into be seen. I put my daughter in my carrier (strapped in well) and put our cat in her carrier (which she's not ever been in to be honest ) one of the latches broke and she slipped out I had to pin her to get and hold the carrier closed; struggling to get in the clinic, the woman behind the desk just greeted me with a "you shouldn't have a pet" energy. Off putting. And then again in the medical room same feeling from the nurse , definitely felt as if I wasn't suppose to have my child with me? It was weird. I explained I was budgeted and had x amount I could afforded for vaccinations and would gladly set up future appointments to get all that are necessary and the nurse slipped out. She came back with a list of things totaling out to exactly what I had to spend on my cat that day. We scheduled further appointments. Fast forward to today. I brought our 7months old puppy in whos vivacious. He had been in before a month or two prior to get a rabies vaccine. He's a good boy , just curious and excited about the world around him. I was asked to drop him off or move my appointment to a later time. I opted to drop him off in the morning expecting him to be well cared for and possibly get him a little after lunch. I received a called explaining what was recommended for our pup totaling again to exactly what I could afford currently to spend on a vet visit. They proceed and call me an hour or two later. Waiting for my little to wake from her nap , I arrived to pick our pup up asap, maybe a total of 45 minutes after they called. I arrive, pay for the service and while trying to keep my daughter chill waiting for the nurses to bring our puppy out (which seemed to take forever and they could here my crying toddler) .... they bring two dogs out at the same time to check out. Excuse me what? No you don't do that, you bring on dog out at a time. it quickly became chaotic because my smart lumpy lug is a happy go lucky 7 month old puppy And I have a toddler in tow. The other nurse that came out to help settle the situation I guess knocked my daughter on her noggin with the solid wood door that leads to the exam rooms when she had most definitely saw where we were standing in the lobby before she chose to use the right side to enter the lobby. You know what I'm tired of typing. I felt extremely disrespected; not only me but I feel my daughter was disrespected as well our animals. I will be finding a new vet to take my animals to. I was referred here by another vet because they were full... but I will find a different place to take my business. I will not be disrespected or taken advantage of."
"i’ve never left a review on google or yelp for anything. no restaurant, product, nothing. but here i am! (i know it’s long, but please read this before taking your pet to Broad St.) three years ago i took my two year old cat Gnocchi to broad street because she had developed a growth on her foot that was concerning me. Broad St. was one of the only vets in town that could get her in on short notice, so i jumped at the opportunity. the vet there told me that this was very unusal, and that he had never seen a growth that looked like hers. after a few weeks and some very pricey tests, they told me that the growth was cancerous and they had to amputate her entire leg. although this was an extremely expensive and frightening procedure, it was better than the alternative they gave me of euthanasia. i was skeptical when they had me pick her up only a couple hours after she woke up from surgery rather than keeping her overnight, but i trusted the vet’s knowledge and tried to keep her comfortable at home while she was coming off of the concoction of drugs they had her on. fast forward a couple more years, up to a few weeks ago. gnocchi has been healthy and happy up until recently, but her energy levels had been way down and she was seeming a bit weak for a week or so, so i took her back to Broad St. They ran a plethora of tests on her, told me she had a heart murmur and was 100%, certainly diabetic. they said i had 24-48 hours to decide whether i wanted to take on the task of caring for a diabetic cat (i.e., thousands of dollars in vet bills and insuline and two shots every day for the rest of her life), while making sure to mention that “diabetes is one of the leading reasons for euthanasia in cats…”. This was a complete shock to me, and i sobbed in the lobby of the clinic as they handed me my bill and shooed me out the door. after going home and reaching out to a few of my friends that work with animals, i started to realize that some of the things they had told me at the vet weren’t entirely adding up. Broad St had said that her blood sugar rating of 200 was extremely alarming and confirmed their diagnosis, which i found many people in pet care industries disagreed with. i put gnocchi on a different food and scheduled her an appointment for a couple weeks from then with a different vet to get a second opinion. within days, her energy levels were back to normal and she was feeling much better. a couple weeks later i got the second opinion at a different, much more highly recommended vet in town. the vet and nurses there were kind and friendly as they walked me through every test they did on Gnocchi with me in the room to watch, and told me that not only did they not detect a heart murmur, but her blood sugar was at 107. healthy. they told me that the level of 200 that broad street had gotten from their tests certainly didnt confirm diabetes, it was just a bit higher than normal. not only that, but they pointed out that her blood sugar tests that had been run at broad street had come in at around 200 every time FOR YEARS, and broad street never pointed it out until the most recent appointment. the new vet said that she most likely was just sick and/or pretty stressed out, causing her blood sugar to rise and her energy levels to go down. they charged me 1/5th of the price that broad st did for pretty much the same tests, and told me to come back in for a checkup in a few months. this experience has me feeling extremely guilty for ever taking my cat to Broad St. Vet. A part of me is even questioning whether or not she ever had cancer to begin with. Whether or not that’s the case, there are much better vets in the area (for example, River City Vet, where i got my second opinion) who are much more caring, accommodating, affordable, and seemingly much more knowledgeable. go there instead."
"Highest prices in the state of Virginia and fraudulent billing. Have moved a lot with my dog and had many veterinarians. This place charges more than any other for a simple exam. I was charged for another “evaluation” for a 4 week mandatory follow up for a flu shot. They spent less than 10 minutes with my dog and still billed the exam, missing the fact that he had a skin condition. This review is a follow up post due to so many positive experiences with other vets in Virginia. Therefore, everyone needs to know broad street is only after money, not your pet’s welfare."
"They wouldn't help my dog when I called several times on several different days. I was told to take her to urgent care. I did that and they robbed me blind and my dog is now dying and in terrible pain so I called back to see if they could help put her down. No, they can't do that either. Not very humane at all. Why are you all even in business if you have no service es that you can perform?"
