"If there was a 3.5 star rating, that's what I would really give the overall experience. Some parts were 5 *, some less. We really enjoyed being in CW at night on the only haunted CW tour that actually goes inside the buildings; that's the 5* part. The pathways to the building entries are lit by real candle lanterns, as are the interiors of the houses. At each interior stop, you're told some history and a story, a legend, and or experiences that guides have had or have heard about. Oddly though, the story we were told at the first location had absolutely nothing to do with the house we were in. (It was a true story that had been reported on in the Williamsburg Gazette, and one that I had prior knowledge of.) 2.5* part: only being allowed into 1 room/area of each building, but I am guessing that liability precludes letting tourists walk through old buildings lit by candlelight. (The candlelight did make great ambiance for the tour.) Our guide, 3*,was theatrical, was a little too verbose, but had a few good jokes. Glad to have done the tour, overall."

"We took the Haunted Williamsburg tour on Christmas Eve. The tour guide was professional and stayed very much in character all evening. His stories were interesting without being gory or overly sensational. He held everyone’s interest and kept the group engaged. A very worthwhile experience that we really enjoyed."

"You have to get your tickets in advance, because they frequently sell out. This tour is the ONLY AUTHORIZED GHOST TOUR in Colonial Williamsburg. That means they are the only tour that goes inside the homes. The other tours can walk around outside at night, but they can't go in the homes. We went in the George Wythe house, Peyton Randolph house, and James Geddy house, in that order. The guide was a great storyteller and told us haunted legends for these homes and residents, including actual deaths. We came back to these homes the next day during daylight hours, but they were all closed and locked. The website said this tour is for age 8 and over, but they let us take our 5-year-old who is obsessed with Halloween. Our awesome tour guide took a poll to see if he should do mild or scary, and everyone voted scary. However, it wasn't really scary at all and our kid was actually falling asleep. There is a lot of walking and you have to be vigilant to avoid stepping in horse poop."

"Interesting walk led by candle lit laterns to 3 separate buildings. Since this is an official tour, you are able to go into the homes to hear the stories. The enjoyment of the night is highly dependent upon the story trekking skills of the speaker. We had a sweet girl who wanted to be very good but sadly was not. It was still an enjoyable evening, with good stories. We attended several years ago and had a great storyteller. You are able to sit in the home to hear the story but we had a large group and several had to sit in the floor."

"This was disappointing. Its advertised as being scary and not for kids under 8. It was definitely NOT scary, although it was somewhat interesting. For the money and having to make a second trek out to the site…we would say it is overpriced. If you lived close it would be a nice date night thing for two. We would not recommend for visually impaired or for any other abled persons."
