About Us
Miller Park is a popular tourist attraction located at 2100 Park Avenue in Lynchburg, Virginia. This park offers a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy during the summer months. From swim lessons to lifeguard training, there is something for everyone at the Aquatics program offered by Lynchburg Parks & Recreation.
The highlight of Miller Park is the pool, which features an Olympic size pool, a children's pool area, a twisting water slide, a high dive, and a kiddie area with a mushroom waterfall. The pool is also equipped with an ADA accessible hydraulic lift chair for those with special needs to enjoy the water. Additionally, there is a concessions stand on-site for drinks and snacks.
Throughout the summer, Miller Park hosts special events such as the Memorial Day Celebration, Military Appreciation Day, Let's Glow Crazy night, Dive-In Movie nights, and even a Paws in the Pool event for dogs and their handlers. Admission to the pool is $3.00 for ages 3 and up, with special event pricing varying.
In addition to recreational activities, Miller Park also offers certification courses such as CPR/First Aid/AED, lifeguard training, and water safety instruction. "I feel Miller Park can be kind of dangerous .My son plays basketball here occasionally. That’s the only reason I go to see him play ball Otherwise, I wouldn’t go here. Everyone he plays ball with is extremely nice…. They told him he’s one of the better basketball players they’ve seen and they always make several positive comments about his playing. One time , My son spent some time showing some guys how to make difficult shots, and they were very thankful. A couple of them asked for his number and told my son they would call him when they had games. I think the majority of people you will meet here are genuinely nice people. However, there are gang members that come here. There have been stabbing, shootings, etc. it makes you feel a little uneasy, particularly when the park starts to close around night."
