"$10 per visitor is a big money grab. Used to be free. We could come in and spend an hour or two just taking some trails. Have not heard a lot of great things about the new person in charge. Probably why the huge fee now. I can see charging for upkeep, $5 per vehicle would seem a fair price but not $10 per person. And no, I’m probably not going to stop by the library for a day pass like they say you can do. Usually we would stop by there on a whim. Haven’t visited since the new fees."
"It is a beautiful place. It appears there is a $10 fee now, which is worth it if you are going to spend some time on the grounds. We used to go for quick walks but not so much of is going to cost $10/person each time."

"Such a beautiful spot with an amazing view of the Peaks of Otter!! The trails are nice."
"Awesome nature center with truly beautiful, beyond-average hiking trails. The Big Otter River runs right through the place. Great walls and shelves of rock line the river edges and giant boulders lie below in the water. There are alternating areas of rapids but other areas are dead calm, serene. Some of the trails just follow the edge of the river. Also, there is a (very narrow) boardwalk over the flood plains of the river that then meanders into the woods, with natural water plants and gardens along the way. I was so impressed with the sheer awesomeness, the unspoiled nature, and the sense of solace. Other than the river water and bird sounds, there is blessed silence. There is much, much more. Do yourself a favor and check this Claytor Nature Center out. Plus, it's absolutely free."
