"I had this surgery 2 years ago and I am not any better than I was before surgery. My doctor I am currently seeing say she can’t even tell that they did anything to free up my nerve. Sonospine basically said sorry they couldn’t help me and pushed me out the door after cashing my check for $30000. I look back and think this is probably one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. I can’t urge you enough to seek help from a doctor that actually has your best interest at heart and not there pockets. This surgery is not covered by most insurance for good reason."
"I went for a visit Sonospine at their Mclean location several months ago. Both the front desk associate and the doctor were very pleasant and professional. I explained that I am in constant pain looked for help in resolving my pain so I could get to a normal lifestyle free of pain or at least some diminished pain. After the initial consult the doctor asked that I follow up and upload my MRI and Cat Scan via their website which I did. I never heard back from them. I called 3 times and the people answering the phones assured me that a doctor would get back with me which they did not. Each time a different excuse (the name was wrong in the system, the system was down, etc. etc.) A doctor is there to assist, not just take a co pay and extract whatever they bill to the insurance companies. If they really cared about the patient, they would have at least had the courtesy to follow up and return a call or send an email. It is apparent that the people at Sonospine do not care about the patient which is unfortunate as people with back problems are in pain and look for help from doctors."
"If the surgery is anything like the incompetence of trying to actually see a doctor, then don’t do it! I’ve been cancelled twice in the Tyson’s corner location. The first time the night before after I had flown in from out of town for the appointment and then today. I was told the doctor decided to visit his son in Japan. They could have told me this weeks before, before I bought my plane ticket to Northern Virginia. Today I showed up for my Saturday appointment (they only have Saturday appointments in Tyson corner) and the room was dark - no warning at all. Not to mention I called their urgent care number and no one answered and no one has called back. The urgent care number’s recording tells you to call the main office if this is an urgent call. Unbelievable! This all has occurred over a 6 month period. The other thing that is suspicious about this practice is that there are no testimonials or scientific literature one can look up."
"Would NEVER NEVER EVER recommend this surgery!!!! He claims 90% success rate and I know of too many people having to seek treatment after because it did not help or made it worse. Please do not do this surgery or let anyone you care about get it. He promises many things and they are not true. My MRI from after surgery had no change from the one I had before surgery. Please get a2nd or 3rd opinion and even after that do not waste your time and money on this crackpot surgery."
"Like many people suffering from chronic back conditions, the thought of a new, promising treatment had me very excited. I'm 40 years old and first herniated my disc in L5/S1 when I was 16. I am now left with a severely degenerated disc and naturally thought Dr. Ellegala would be the perfect resource. I made my appointment and waited anxiously, I was told to bring my MRI with me which was from less than 2 years ago. The lady at my first appointment didn't even look at the MRI, she asked me a few questions and then ordered a new MRI before they would allow me to move forward. I happily obliged however, paying more money for another MRI, all at the hope of being able to see this wonderful Dr. Ellegala. The day finally arrived for my 2nd appointment. A new lady came in, who stated they couldn't get into the system to see the MRI, but the report showed it was stable from the previous MRI. She kept saying things like, "IF your back is like this, then maybe Dr. Ellegala can help." I politely asked to reschedule when they can actually see my MRI so we can go over it since surgery is a big decision. She then said they would call to reschedule, which of course, never happened. So basically, I am left with a bill for a new MRI that I didn't need because the 1st girl didn't want to look at my less than 2 year old MRI and I didn't even get to review the new MRI with this practice. Before leaving she was kind enough to tell me insurance doesn't cover it anyway, as if that somehow justified her lack of trying to even do the bare minimum. It genuinely saddens me to have to leave this review. The doctor may be amazing, I have no frame of reference, however, the practice needs a hand."
