"I am an HOA board member, and honestly believe that these people should get their law licenses revoked for pushing our board, and apparently many others, to engage in unnecessary litigation. They kept coming to our closed door meetings encouraging us not to settle and that they would "handle it". Turns out it's because they kept racking up massive fees from not settling. They argue that it's not a big deal because they can collect it from someone else, but when you keep racking up frivolous and unnecessary charges, those are problematic in and of themselves. If you pay me to deliver milk to your estranged grandma, but I charge her $40 a gallon, it doesn't make it okay just because she has to pay it, not you. Meanwhile your community's culture will deteriorate because they try to profit off of every single dispute, no matter how small. They're supposed to have the board's interests in mind, but at the end of the day it's just their own interests. When we started reviewing their letters it was like reading something issued by Saddam Hussein circa 1992, rather than anything remotely in line with what people in Fairfax County should be subject to. I could be upset with you without resorting to threatening your entire livelihood. If you are another board exploring what firm to retain, please look elsewhere. You can hire a tough firm, that still isn't abusive, divisive, and selfish. They work like some sort of toxic leaches that will even start threatening you as a board member if you try to disagree with their bullying tactics."
