"ATC is a place that holds a lot of weight with me. Attended during a very fragile point in my life and I was told if I stuck with what I was doing I'd be setting myself up with a career. I kept my head down and listened but I had absolutely no idea how wrong they were. I attended ATC for 2 years in the telecommunications program and for the most part enjoyed it. It was taught by robert stover, very personable guy. My problems arose with me graduating and understanding how little this mattered. The "certifications" and "credentials" that set you apart from other applicants are little more than participation stickers on a legitimate job site. The ATC taught me absolutely nothing that was of any use on the field and I was basically retrained from scratch. Oh by the way, the jobs that I had to find for myself because the teacher who was supposed to give job refferals out of the program refused to do so. Overall, very fun and knowledgeable experience. Go if you're looking to pretty much just not be at your home school for half the day. If you're looking for skills that are actually applicable too the workplace and want to learn them hands on, vo tech is the place to do it. Stover I doubt your reading this but if you are thank you for singlehandedly sparking, and killing my passion for telecommunications networks. Write your own path and never let anyone tell you who you can and can't be. Too all the high schoolers reading this that is the biggest message I've taken from my time since graduation. And paving your own path doesn't entail wasting 2 years at a half day school and graduating with basically nothing to show for your time."
