"Excellent communication, very helpful and accommodating with members and non members alike. Pleasant atmosphere to learn in with a very engaging staff when it comes to answering your questions, course registrations, and re-scheduling 's that occur from time to time due to circumstances beyond one's control. The staff is always available to assist their customers with membership issues and concerns that facilitate a positive training environment encouraging it's students to persue their goals from start to finish. Big shout out to Paul and Jennie Jameson who manage CBS Norfolk Sailtime chapter with it's dedicated Instructors and Maintenance Staff."
"Our instructor Jim was fantastic. He is a wealth of knowledge and keeps it fun! Highly recommend!"
"My girlfriend and I took the ASA101 class as part of a birthday gift. Unfortunately they are a bit short on instructors due to the pandemic. The experience was less than par for us. Some things were stuff I would have expected better from the instructor (e.g. taking us out during a small craft advisory, yelling at us for trying to figure something out on our own when he wasn't acknowledging our questions) for a class we paid almost $500 a person for but, some of the issues were due to other people in the class that the instructor just didn't try to address (students taking 103 and 104 later in the week sidetracking the whole calls to ask questions not related to the 101 class or not listening to the instructor and almost running the boat aground). We did however speak with management which was super professional and polite about the whole situation. They offered to allow us to retake the class with a different instructor since the the first instructor only taught us how to rig the boat and only had us do 3 or 4 of the 10 or so skills you need to get certified. We agreed with with management to take a spring class as our retake to allow time for more instructors to be brought in and also late fall and all winter is not the best time to be on the Chesapeake bay. The class would have been fun and I'm sure it will be great when we retake it. There just happened to be a perfect storm of issues this go around, not all being the schools fault. We are more than happy to give SailTime a second try though. Here's hoping to a better review in the spring."
"I completed the 2-day ASA 101 Sailing course with Sailtime and couldn't be more satisfied. The course was professionally delivered, challenging and fun. Capt. Dave did a phenomenal job managing us (3 students with widely varying degrees of experience). I walked away with a true appreciation and understanding of material and the joys of sailing."
"I recently took the ASA 101 class with SailTime in Virginia Beach. I did not have a chance to read the entire book before the class; however, the instructors (Dave and Jim), did a great job of preparing me for the exam. Additionally, we spent the majority of time over both days on the water working through various sailing techniques and everyone in the class had a chance to get plenty of practice at each position on the boat. I plan to take the 103 course in the near future. I did have experience sailing, but found the course to be a greater refresher course having not sailed in a number of years. I would recommend the program for anyone looking to get the 101 certification, new to sailing, or looking for a refresher course."
