"Shala was nice, but I did not care for the end result of my hair. It did not have a lot of movement or body after being blow dryed and flat ironed . It was a bit stiff and I did not like the fact that she put pomade on my edges without asking me. She did not know how to do edges for black people hair, so it did not look the best and I had to fix it. I also did not like that she cut a couple of inches of hair off when I said a trim. Granted I needed the trim, but I'm use to stylists doing a little bit or asking if I would like all the dead hair trimmed. And the other issue was how I was charged twice for flat ironing ... I was charged for a flat iron set which is $25 and then a flat iron finish for $10. It makes no sense because she did not do any extra flat ironing other than to staright my curly natural hair after being washed and blow dryed. So why add another $10? Speaking of natural curly hair, Shala also did not seem to know much about black hair. She was offering the salon products as all the styles are trained to do, but they honestly weren't that great for my hair type. Also they were $40 a bottle and I already use Camille Rose products, which work well for my natural hair. She also was telling me to get trims every 6 to 8 weeks, but I perfer to get my hair trimmed as needed since I do protective styles. And I usually keep my hair in braids for about 1- 2 months, so it wouldn't work. Also she kept saying may hair was dry, which it was but it was due to me reblow drying my hair after flat ironing it a week prior and sweating it out. And I tried to salvage it by blow drying it, but it was frizzy and I didn't want to deal with my hair. Which was the whole reason I came to Hair cuttery, and I've gone to the Bradlee location before and thought I would try this location. I like the location since it's close to home and it's never super packed. I just think next time I'll pick another hair style who knows how to do black hair. She even refered me to go to another stylist named Key next time, who is African American. She said this as she was ringing me up, so it kinda made me feel like she doesn't really like to do natural curly hair, especially tighly coiled 4A hair like myself. My scalp is still curently dry af and I got my hair done of 1/5 and it is currnetly 1/10 ... It's dry from all the intense blow drying and I've been oiling my scalp, which has been helping. But honestly I'm gonna wash my hair and go back to my curls soon, since it itches. But overall just a bit pissed I spent $77 and was not satisfied with overall result. Especially when I was over charged or upcharged possiably because of my natural hair ... And also the fact that I've recieved a lot of silk presses before and know that my hair could have looked a lot better. Bottom line find a stylist that can do your hair type especially if you're black and you go to hair cuttery. Yes ideally hair stylists are supose to know how to work on all types of hair. But generally cacasian hair is prioritized and taugh more in hair schools. Also if they do know how to do it they might not have much expereince if they are not black. Just thought I would give this helpful piece of advice, so you can have a better experience than me. I gave 3 stars because I did appreciate that Shala made sure my hair was moisterized and that she took her time detangling my hair and did not rip through it."
"Revised, 01-03-24. I knew that after speaking with the district manager (Jesse) that she wasn't professional either. She called me under the pretense of aiding me in the recent debacle at the Van Dorn location. She gave an insulting apology, followed by lies. She said she would refund my money, email me a confirmation of that refund, and send me the "original" stylist name that cut my hair correctly. I have yet to receive any of these things. I told her that she didn't know how to do her job (case and point). Why did you even bother to call me? I called and scheduled a trim w/one stylist (the night before) and when I came in for my appointment, she wasn't even scheduled to work that day. The old bait and switch for sure! Your business must be extremely slow, that was very underhanded! Now I'm at the counter lamenting between two women, to see who's going to take me. I end up with a stylist named Freweini. She was very apologetic for the misunderstanding. I told her that I wanted a trim. She combed me out and we AGREED on a 1 inch trim. However you know that didn't happen. When I left her chair she had cut 1 1/2 to 2 inches of my hair. I even showed her how long my hair was and how I style it. Then one of her colleagues immediately came over and swept my hair up so I wouldn't see how much had been cut off. This is just a deceitful establishment. You texted me a survey to fill out and then you never posted my review. Everyone there kept saying that the manager was coming in at a particular time but she never showed up. They kept telling me that I should tell the manager what I had experienced. The lady that cut my hair isn't a master hairstylist. Your hairstylist is supposed to do what you asked them. I just wanted a simple trim. This place should be closed down. Your work ethics are horrible and this location is being mismanaged. I'm going to file a report on this business!"
"Bait and Switch! I took my 2 teens in for a haircut. Then when I went to pay the bill the 2 haircuts cost $128! One of the stylists said because they have long hair and got a "deluxe blow dry." I DID NOT ask for that, nor was I ever asked if they could do that service. The stylist said she asked my daughter and she said yes. Obviously I am the one paying for the two because they asked me when I came in if I was paying for them together. When I expressed how this was not agreed upon nor offered to me - she said she couldn't change it. The computer "was slow" and then magically the computer worked and she could reduce it for a "short haircut". Robbery! I will NEVER go there again and am telling everyone to BEWARE! I would give them zero stars but this site won't let you post without giving at least one star."
"I got my hair done and I just loved my experience so much I just had to come back and leave a review. It’s well deserved. My stylist was Halo she is new there and she was just the best ! She made sure anything she was okay with me, great conversations, willing to take on challenges, and just seems like she knows what she’s doing. I was very happy with my service !! I will most definitely be coming back just for her !"
"It was my first time going to this location. I did wash, cut, roller set, and straightening. The lady who did my hair was super nice and did a wonderful job on my hair. However, she was being domineering after I refused blowing drying my hair when I wanted to do roller sets for my hair. She kept complaining that I blow dry my hair which doesn't work for my hair type and wasn't respecting my boundaries after I said no numerous times."
