"We were seated promptly. The food and drinks were very good. Our server was friendly. There was a very large party there at the same time as us that I think affected the speediness of drinks from the bar and food from the kitchen. The person who I believe was the manager spent most of his time at the door and I think could have helped with running food/drinks. There was a problem with one of our dishes, but the server handled it appropriately. This was our first time here, we will definitely try again."
"I think the Barkery is actually several restaurants along this block. The part/one we ate at was right on the corner and use to be a local information office. Nice sitting area inside that isn't really designed for eating, rather sitting and perhaps drinking. We sat at the outdoor patio and it was very nice. Good was excellent as were the drinks. Prices more than reasonable."
"My wife and I decided to stop by The Hound's Tale three times during our visit to Williamsburg. Since we were bouncing around a lot, we only came in for drinks at their bar and desert. We both got the same drinks each night and unfortunately, they were not consistent. The first and third visit the drinks were the same but the second visit my old fashioned was harsh and my wife's drink was made a bit off and the garnish was also different. Otherwise, we loved the atmosphere and the fact that they gave you free popcorn. FYI, when the pumpkin cocktail was made the right way, it was my wife's favorite of our entire trip."
"We went at around 8:30pm on a Friday and were seated almost immediately. They served us complimentary popcorn for the table. The restaurant was definitely busy and could use an extra waiter or two. Our waitress was very kind though and we didn’t feel too neglected. The food was pretty good. I very much enjoyed the lamb chops. They were seasoned nicely and not over cooked. The portion size was quite large for the lamb chops. We also got the Scallop Mac and Cheese. For me, it was a bit oily, but overall the flavor was nice."
"Had dinner there, went around 6:30pm, was able to get seated without waiting. Nice atmosphere, and what seemed like a good selection of drinks and food. However several things made it not enjoyable. The front door opens directly into the main room of the restaurant so in the winter, when it opens and you are seated anywhere within about 15’ you get blasted with cold air. This kept going on all evening…very distracting. While the menu looks good initially, it comes down to basically being a fancy college bar type menu. For example we ordered an appetizer of fries with gravy and cheese, and got a gigantic platter of fries,if we had eaten it all would not have needed any dinner because it was so large….definitely not a normal “appetizer” size. Then with one of our meals, another gigantic helping of fries with basically no vegetables. Another meal was the “shrimp and grits with scallops”, and while the scallops and shrimp were very good, there was so much butter in the dish the grits were literally swimming in it. We poured off a ton of the butter but the grits were so saturated with it we could not eat any of them…nasty! Another disappointment was our waiter, very nice but after taking our initial order, we had to flag him down each time we needed something or wanted our check…he did not check back at all. Lastly was the extreme high price. We spend over $50 per person with only 1 drink (beer) each. While we got enough French fries to feed a small army, we were disappointed in the quality of the food. Would I go there again…no Would I recommend…no"
