"I just finished having implants done, and although it has been a lengthy journey, I couldn't have asked for a better staff than those at this facility. Dr. Larson was extremely professional, empathetic, and skilled in his trade. His passion for his chosen field is quite evident. He took care of things down to the last detail. All of the staff from the front desk, to all of the aids participating in my treatment were very kind, professional, and accommodating."
"The staff at Appalachian Highland Dental is absolutely amazing. The kindness and empathy that they show is above and beyond. Dr Shaw and his assistant Jess, have changed my life. They are so knowledgeable, skilled, and they truly care about each patients needs and fears. I only wish I could have found them years ago. ❤️ My sincere thanks!"
"I wouldn’t recommend Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center for tooth extractions. I had all of my upper teeth extracted recently in two separate visits, seven to eight teeth per visit. I was instructed by the dentist and his assistant both times to alternate acetaminophen with ibuprofen for post surgical tooth extraction pain management. I did as they instructed, however, I quickly learned these two over-the-counter medications are ineffective at relieving this type of pain. I didn’t call the office or complain either time, I just quietly suffered through without bothering them. I’m sure if I would have called and complained with pain they would have just argued and called me a drug addict. Any dentist that tells you ibuprofen and acetaminophen will be all you need for analgesia following surgical tooth extractions is either ignorant or outright lying and probably shouldn’t be extracting teeth at all. Following both visits I suffered with severe pain for 4-5 days each time. I was unable to even lay my head down to sleep as the pain would become even worse. After the fifth day things got more tolerable but effective analgesics are necessary for the first few days following surgical extractions. Any dentist that will leave you in intractable pain for days has absolutely no respect for you as a human being. Dentists are well aware extractions cause lots of pain, Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center and the dentists under its employ could care less. You will be sent home after your visit with no way of controlling the pain that will begin as soon as the numbing injections administered during your visit begin to wear off. I’ve since found a different dentist to do my bottom extractions and complete the rest of my dental work. He provides effective pain management following extractions. He doesn’t just send you home to suffer. I asked him what he thought about my experience at Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Clinic, he simply said “that’s not how I practice!”. Take care, Johnny"
"I am so thankful for all the staff from the front desk, Mariah and Dr. Ian Larson they have been so amazing. The front desk ladies, I didn’t get there names they take me in without any appointment same day. I have been dreading the dentist my entire life but today left me no choice since my bad tooth for months have a huge abscess with severe toothache I can’t sleep. Dr. Ian and Mariah have been so patient to me, even we have to pause a hundred of times since I was so scared. I feel ashame acting like a grown toddler panicking and scared lol. But they have been very patient and even extending there time to make sure I am taken care of. From the bottom of my heart thank you, thank you for helping me conquer my fear. And thank you for the best service and care y’all given me . :)"
