"Went for a birthday party, we were either the first or second to order and the very last by 20min to get our food. When we finally got our food it was sub par. My daughter’s broccoli was raw not steamed and my father’s Philly had 3 pieces of meat, 2 peppers and 2 onions and was cold. To wait over 2 hours with waiters who didn’t care at all is absolutely unacceptable. The lack of care from the waiters shows they don’t need to be in that job. The only reason we stayed is cause the party was still going and we are simply cause we were so hungry and from out of town. I cannot express how angry the situation made me. Please, please stay away. Save your money this place has high end prices for frat boy level effort."
"7 of us went for a 50th birthday dinner. Arrived at 5pm to an empty restaurant. It took over 30 min to get my cocktail and by the time I got it the ice was mostly melted and drink watered down. We waited over an hour for our meals. At this point we were there TWO hours so my husband left. B-day boy's steak was a piece of gray leather. He didn't want to send it back...oh well. He left early as well. Finally THREE hours after we arrived, we got our checks and one was charged for a beer he never received. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. Think the kicker was while we were waiting 15 min to receive our checks...our waiter, David was sitting in the server area, playing on his phone and laughing with the other servers."
"We have always loved this place. Granted it’s been a few years since we’ve been. Decided to go last night and we were really disappointed. 5 adults and we all disliked our meals. My salad came out of bag with a few cucumbers and the roasted chicken was cold , like out of the refrigerator cold. The Mac and cheese tasted old and even the cheese fries left a lot to be desired. Really sad this was a great place at one time!"
"Do not recommend. Food had no taste. Service was lackluster. Nachos appetizer had chicken out of a can. Cheese on nachos was cold. Inedible. Pulled pork was edible, but no flavor. Slaw was just diced cabbage. Not creamy nor vinegar. Fries no flavor. Chicken strips out of a bag. Menu looked good but could get better tasting food - as another reviewer said- at McDonalds. Improve quality of food or your restaurant will be a short timer. Did not enjoy meal."
"Our first stop in Blacksburg has always been Bull & Bones. We haven't been in town in a couple of years and and couldn't wait to get here! We were so disappointed to see that it is nothing like it used to be. We were there during a football game when the place was crowded, as expected, and there were TWO servers. Our service was super slow - could not even get drink refills. The worst part, though, was the quality of the food. What used to be the best steak in the area was the WORST. The picture I am including is a steak cooked medium. You will notice there are zero juices on the plate from when I cut the steak. My mom's was even worse. I told her the steaks were leftover from the previous day and I do believe this to be true. I have had some bad steaks in my life and this was by far the worst I have ever had. We watched half of the game (intended to watch the whole thing) and left because we couldn't even get drinks. I am sad to see a life-long tradition end, but we will never be back to Bull & Bones. I spent $90 and could have gotten a better meal at McDonald's."
