Reviews of The Maroon Door
"Fully remodeled historical building is clean with character. Several beers hit the mark, and I appreciated a range of non IPA choices. The Stout is especially delicious and the brown ale a close second. The creative menu items alone are worth returning to sample. Rabbit egg rolls were flavorful and surprisingly light. A small but nicely chosen array of whiskies will please the sippers in your crew. Well done all around!"
"We had a large gathering there . I think we all had a wonderful time there. I ordered pork chop. It was ok but the cut was thicker than I expected it. Other people food experience was ok. I really liked their whiskey sour. The server was very efficient."
"The food was really good, but this restaurant really needs to help my girl Kate out! She was an amazing server and very kind, speedy, and attentive. Absolutely hustling the night after a VT game, so as you can imagine, it was quite busy. Literally EVERYTHING my husband and I ordered, the restaurant was out of. I totally get being out of some things on busier nights, but ALL the things? Poor Kate had to come to our table FIVE different times to tell us they were out of the beer, drink, appetizers, and entrees we wanted. We ended up substituting my husband's beer for a different beer, my drink for water, our appetizer for no appetizer (they only had two available out of however many they have on the menu,) and a burger instead of the spicy chicken sandwich and his entree. The burgers were very good! I wish we'd gotten to try anything we wanted though. Despite our experience, we would come back just for Kate. The restaurant was good, but the service was their saving grace. We hope the restaurant makes things easier for her next weekend."
"I had dinner there with my sister Sunday evening, around 7-8 pm. We both thought we had plenty of time considering their website said they closed at 10. We both start with some drinks and the mozzarella bites app. The appetizer was pretty yummy, very nice combination of sweet and spicy. My ceasar salad was okay. The croutons were so hard that I couldn't stick my fork in them, probably won't order it again. My steak was pretty good, a little under the medium I had ordered, but I didn't mind. My sister, however, had ordered a bacon cheeseburger, and when it came out, it didn't have any bacon, and she also stated how hard her bread was. Our server also didn't really check on us often because I assume they were doing their closing duties, and they started locking up at 9 pm, which just confused me a lot and made me feel very rushed. My sister ended up walking around the restaurant to grab another server to get the bacon she had asked for, and then when our server inevitability brought out the bacon, she stated that she had only ordered a cheeseburger. Which is whatever mistakes happen, but she could have been a lot nicer about it. After finishing my steak, I just wanted to relax and wanted to ask for some coffee and dessert. Our server came up. I guess, expecting us to want to pay and asked me if I wanted a tea to go before she tossed it out. I appreciate it, but again, I just felt very rushed and not welcome. I didn't end up asking for coffee, but I did get the espresso creme brulee, which was very delicious. Overall, it's not amazing, but not awful."
