"My first time here, I ordered the calabash flounder and it came with two hush puppies, coleslaw and you can pick potatoes or vegetables. Everything was really good, the fish was lightly battered and cooked perfectly. The hushpuppies were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The coleslaw was really good as well, and our waitress was friendly and attentive, I would come here again."
"Had dinner at the restaurant today and it was horrible. My sister and I both had the seafood platter. Mine was fried and hers, broiled.Everything was over seasoned and overcooked. The shrimp were dry and chewy, crab cake and scallops overcooked and tasteless. The French fries were too salty. I was so disappointed and upset. I let the waitress know, but she wasn’t to blame. Your establishment must do better. It will be a very long time before, if ever that I visit again."
"Cute old school hotel. Still using key to unlock your room so no electronic failures. Tiny TV almost too small to ready the guide. Room at the lodge was comfy. On site restaurant and Bar was nice and good food. Staff was friendly and accommodating."
"Smithfield Station....!? What can I say? Well, the service did an ok job. The dinner party I was in was pretty large (20 or more people)...on the other hand the food... I will for the cost and the hype, it was a disappointment. I ordered the calabash oysters. It came with Cole slaw ( barely had anything in it to break down the firm texture of the cabbage and no seasoning to over power the raw bitterness of the natural cabbage). But the 2 waitresses we had I believe that it was a bit overwhelming for them, yet they had great manners, professional and kept up as best they could with all the orders. So, I would give them a try perhaps in the future. The location was beautiful and for the occasion...my grandmother's 94 birthday celebration, well my grandmother was pleased just to have the crowd of family and friends celebrating her on that Saturday 4pm gathering. So, overall because my dear grandmother who is in the picture, enjoyed herself... SMITHFIELD STATION achieved enough this round! Great Job.. yet, until next time my review will be more precise and clean cut."
"This boutique hotel is so great. The room is a good size, the furniture is actually useful for a multi-day stay. The bed and towels are cozy and comfortable. The shower is huge! The view is beautiful, legitimately beautiful. There even is a pool that looks great although it was too chilly for us to use. The continental breakfast at the Station's restaurant is so great, their sausage is amazing and even has one of those giant waffle irons that you see at Hiltons. It is just minutes from super charming downtown Smithfield. If you are looking for a quiet getaway with lots of pig statues around town...check it out."
