"Following a power surge our 4 year old stove was not working. The burners would not get hot and the oven did not work. Spoke to Mr. Stanley and described the problem. Based upon our phone conversation, he quoted me a $700-800 repair cost. He said that the stove w had was not worth putting that much into it. Would be better to buy a new one. He did not offer to come out to look at it and I made the mistake of not insisting. I proceeded to purchase a new stove that ended up costing me $1000 including extended warranty and hauling away old one. Now we have the new one and it started doing the same thing so I called a repairman who came to the house. The first thing he did was check voltage at the outlet where the stove was plugged in. It was only producing 70 when it should be 240. We had the problem resolved and the stove works fine. Now I believe that we threw out a perfectly good stove and spent $1000 that we really could not afford. I called Mr. Stanley on 9/30 and expressed my disappointment and frustration. His response was to laugh and say ,"Well, at least you got a new stove and you didn't have to pay the $100 that we charge to come out". I certainly learned a valuable lesson through this experience and I hope he will do better by his customers in the future."
