"Update 11/19/23 Well, O'Reilly across the street screwed me this time on a simple air filter, but this Advance store had the filter and had a good staffing situation on a Sunday around noon. I did not have to wait to pick up my order...my main complaint about this store in the past. I had no choice but to try them again because of what O'Reilly did to me, but now Advance is back on my list for buying parts again. I hope this most recent experience continues in the future. Last update: My previous review still applies but they pushed me in to the arms of O'Reilly Auto across the road yesterday. I simply had a question about a couple of lawn tractor batteries and was put on hold for 10 minutes. At least thats when I hung up, who knows how long, if ever I would have waited for what would have taken someone less than a minute to answer. O'Reilly answered the phone and helped me immediately. Maybe it was just the timing. Good employees are hard to find, and maybe thats the issue, but not having solid staffing numbers for the weekends, when customers need them the most, really irritates me. Customers are often in the middle of their weekend project when they need the auto parts store. Waiting painfully long for help or in a line is the last thing that customer needs. These places really need to separate their counter service so they have someone to answer phones, another to manage the off the shelf walk-in customers and a separate counter(s) for people coming in with an old rusty part scratching their head looking for help. A customer shouldn't have to wait behind that if all they want is some oil and a filter. Again, I've never had a problem with the staff here once I do get some help, and hey, when everyone else is at work during the week the wait is not usually as bad if you have the luxury to be able to do that. Original review: Usually a solid experience. I prefer to order online when possible because the store is claustrophobically small. Hard to stand back far enough in the aisles to get a good view of the merchandise in panorama. And there is not much room for a line at the counter, so its up to the customer's politeness to determine who should be served next. The folks working there are usually very helpful. The only problem is, when they get busy, they have no choice but to be myopic. It's one customer at a time and some customers come in there with a life's story like rebuilding a classic car and they can take a half hour at the counter with the tech. If I see more than a couple people waiting, I know it could be a few minutes, or a major time commitment. That's the fault of the design of the system, not the techs. If I order online, I shouldn't have to wait behind people who didn't, to get my order. And sometimes my order isn't even picked yet. I might as well have just gone to the store and stood in line and asked the techs to pull what I wanted from the shelves. The system could use improvement. The people there are usually very helpful though, best they can. It is great to have a place nearby that I or my wife can go to get stuff like wiper blades and batteries replaced. I can do that stuff, but it sure is convenient to have them do it for me. I can order wipers online and just have my wife go there and get them installed...makes my life easier. They also accept used engine oil. This makes me prefer to buy my oil change supplies from them. Making recycling easy means less people are pouring their oil out somewhere on the ground."
"Very helpful staff except for one knucklehead employee (maybe manager?) that was purposefully squalling tires in a red pickup truck out in the parking lot."
"This Advance Auto at Zions Crossroads is top notch. Extremely friendly and very customer service driven. My niece needed a battery and they checked the one she had, determined it was in fact the battery. The gentleman had the old one out and the new one installed in under 20 minutes so my niece could make it to work. Highly recommend this store to anyone!"
"Stopped in today to get a couple of small items. 3 people behind the counter. I found 1 item and was standing there waiting for some help yo get some thread sealer tape. One guy just walking around doing nothing, one guy looking on a computer, no one else at the counter. After a couple of minutes of no one just asking if I needed anything, I just put the item back on the shelf and left. Just typical gat lazy people. Though I was padding through east KY again. Just poor customer service and no one was in any hurry to do anything. I'll shop at a place that's got competent people from now on."
