"We ate the breakfast buffet both days at the resort and our food was fantastic. This is the best breakfast I've ever eaten, hands down. I made sure to go back for seconds so I could get my money's worth. The bread pudding was divine. The sausage and bacon was perfectly prepared. My husband loved his ham and cheese omelet. The wait staff was wonderful for both meals. They took wonderful care of us and made sure we had everything we needed and wanted."
"I was extremely hesitant in coming here for our anniversary dinner due to my previous two poor experiences in other restaurants at the Greenbrier. My husband and I decided to go forward with our reservation because there was really no where else to go for dinner and we wanted to give the Main Dining Room a chance. We assumed this might have the priority kitchen. The server and hostesses were nice. My husband knocked a point down because the server (at a 5 star resort restaurant) was not familiar with what was being served. We ordered a cheese plate to start. I was too skeptical to order the cheese plate, however my husband insisted. Yup, three slices of cheese from the cheese section at Walmart for $30! It was the most pitiful plate of cheese that I have ever seen for double the price. Then our food came. I got the Maryland Crab Carbonara ($65) and he got the Haddock with tomato and chorizo stew ($57). I tried his haddock and it was the most awful thing I have ever had at a restaurant. ZERO flavor in that dish, it tasted as if it was marked down haddock from Aldi's. My dish was edible but it had no seasoning. I was looking around in the restaurant in disbelief that there was no riot forming for how bad this food was. The bill came to around $230. We decided to take the hit as a learning experience to never go to any of the restaurants at the Greenbrier. I do wish I would have cancelled our dinner reservation, some lessons are expensive. I don't know if most of the Greenbrier clientele lacks exposure to good food or what the situation was. I did not have a single good meal at the Greenbrier. The prices reflect five star but the quality and taste reflects amateur home chef. They have tons of J-1 Visa workers & a culinary school. I wouldn't be surprised if they "train" their J-1 Workers without cooking experience in that "school" for cheap kitchen labor. Not good. 0/10"
"Very good. However for the prices that charge, they should include the coffer. In the morning, they offer free coffee just outside the restaurant entrance but once you go in, $6.00 for a cup...really?"
"Save your money and time by NOT eating here. I took my kids for breakfast and was disappointed in the food and the ridiculous price. I have gotten better food at the complimentary breakfast at 2 star and 3 star hotels. The eggs are powdered eggs they serve in a cafeteria. The hash browns were half cooked and gross. The pastries were dry and looked as old as the dining room itself. Waffles were dry. I could go on and on about how poor the food quality was. Service was excellent, and they tried their best. However, they add a whopping 20% service charge along with HPF fee. It's a buffet, and you get the food yourself. Ended up having to eat the boxed cereal. For 2 kids and myself, the bill was $90!!! Embarrassing for a 5 star resort. See the other negative reviews. Should have listened to them."
"(Christmas) Main dining room functions as a buffet for breakfast and fine dining for dinner. After reading the reviews I was avoiding dining here but was pleasantly surprised on both ends. When reading the reviews consider seasonal timing. The breakfast buffet was nice. On Christmas morning there was a omlete and custom egg station. offering inclded eggs, bacon sausage cheese blints, potatoes, biscut and gravy, fruit, wafel station and bagel station with smoked salmon. There are 2 sides to the main dining room. There is a good side and a bad side. Try to be on the side with the windows. In the evening the potions are small but the dining service was nice. Food was excellent. I was scared away from ordering the chicken by other reviews"
