Almost Heaven Smokehouse

"We saw this place on the drive up to snowshoe and were excited to try it on the way back. We were very disappointed. We ordered a pulled pork plate (15$) and the brisket sandwich($13). They were out of a few of the sides we wanted so we got the mac and cheese and green beans as sides. Nothing we ate was good. We watched them microwave the macaroni and it was still very cold and dry. The pulled pork was fine but there was maybe 5 bites in the plate. The brisket was old and was just one large piece of fat on a stale piece of bread. I’m not sure if this was just all leftover food from yesterday since we went for lunch? But we spent a week at snowshoe and this was our worst experience."

"Seriously, the name is no exaggeration. Discovering a place of this caliber in such an unexpected location was a total find. The owner's genuine passion and pride in his craft are super evident, a vibe that's becoming pretty rare these days. Our family ended up coming here all three days of our stay. We tried everything – the brisket, pulled pork, chicken wings, ribs, mac and cheese, half a chicken, and those jalapeño poppers we just couldn't resist (had them every single day!). Everything was amazingly delicious. But if you're into something with a kick, you've got to try the in-house Carolina Reaper vinegar hot sauce. They make it in small batches, and it's insanely good. It's not just the snowboarding that's going to bring us back, but the incredible food and the dedication that goes into it."

"Had them twice for lunch at Snowshoe during UCI worlds races. The alligator rice is out of this world, the staff was exceptionally pleasant and accommodating, and the prices were good. I hope to enjoy their food next time I am up in the area!"

"Got the buffalo cheese sausage the night we arrived, it was good, more spicy than I would prefer. Second night got the brisket. Very tasty. For the price would prefer a side to be included. 3 stars because they open at 7am however we waited from 7 to 8 and never opened."
