"We arrived for our reservation on time, at 6 pm. We left at 7:30 with our meals to go because we were so tired of waiting for our food it seemed easier to eat at home. They gave us free dessert by way of apology for the wait. But we saw people who arrived 30 minutes after us setting food. Our waitress was attentive and apologetic as well, explaining that there were only two chefs in the kitchen. This was our experience last time-very slow service . We hoped it would be better. It wasn’t."
"My wife and I were celebrating our 27 yr anniversary. We like to try different places each year. This year was the Edinburg Mill restaurant. We made a reservation because it was recommended (seems to be a tactic to make it seem like they have highly sought out food and service). Just before getting there for our reservation we found out that the chefs/management were from the defunct Joes Steakhouse in Front Royal (not so good steak there). I decided to chance it. Should have steered clear. I had the blackened Sword fish - very dry and awful flavor. Not edible, even though I tried. My wife had a Medium Rare Sirloin - came out more on the medium side. She decided to eat it because the waitress did not come back to check midway through our meal and instead came after we were done (at least the steak - not the fish) While they are trained to ask if they can do anything, I would have expected the chef or manager to come to the table. But not this place. We were offered a discount on the one meal and a dessert on the house for the occasion. Peanut Butter cream pie was our selection. Poor choice as a jar of peanut butter with a chocolate covered graham cracker crust would have been the equivalent. Too heavy after a meal - should be lighter - especially something with peanut butter. Too bad - the place is quaint. If I had negative stars, I would provide, but zero is adequate. The chef/management need to really evaluate what they are trying to accomplish. Is the place now open Thursday - Sunday because of poor service and food? So here are recommendations for the chef’s: 1. Re-evaluate the menu. 2. Get some honest feedback from people about how the food is prepared. Food overcooked is a big thumbs down for us. 3. Your drink menu should include local vineyard options - theirs are at least 3 within 20 miles that are actually better than what is on the menu."
"Stopped in during a road trip for dinner and we were impressed with the reviews - they are correct. This place is excellent! Delicious food, friendly service, and a wonderful historic location. Steak and chicken chef salad was amazing, sirloin, crab cake, all were fantastic. We are going to stop by every time we head down Rt 11 or I-81."
"Just dined there last night. We were visiting from NOVA and were excited to try this historic restaurant. Like others have mentioned, this restaurant is VERY short staffed. We made a reservation and still waited 10 minutes to get seated. It took another 10 minutes to get water. When we finally ordered it took 30 MINUTES to get our appetizer!! 30 minutes for chips and dip! Then another 30 minutes to get our entrees. We were there for well over 2 hours! Our poor waitress was worked to the bone and gave us dessert complimentary for all the delays and headaches. Very sad situation. The building has a lot of charm, but if they can't staff the restaurant, they should reconsider what they are doing. Either simplify the menu or close down."
"Went here for an early Easter dinner and was blown away not only by the food but also the atmosphere. I can’t remember her name but our server was super friendly and personable. I had the prime rib with a baked sweet potato and a side salad with buttermilk ranch dressing. I really enjoyed my food, especially the bread. There was something about the bread that made it super tasty. We also got a slice of peanut butter and chocolate pecan pie, both of which were delicious. The atmosphere was very cozy and comfortable. I was told that the dining room is inside of an old grain silo which contributes to the restaurant’s unique vibe that really adds to the experience. I would definitely go back here and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal."
