"Nice store, but prices should be lower especially for basket bins outside. Also a good idea to have bag days. Fill up a bag for maybe $6-10. A lot of poor people who shop there will be able to afford more things. I believe that's what Rise stands for."
"Rise is one of the best thrift stores around. I shop here frequently with my twin 20-year-olds, and we always come home with a big bag of finds—and we rarely spend over $30 a visit! They have a great collection of clothing plus items for the home. Also, they have a program where you can earn points with each visit for a discount on a following visit. The store has also been has been remodeled recently and looks fantastic! We also like to donate our gently used items to this store, which I believe helps Rise fund the food bank in town, buy school supplies for local children and provide holiday gifts for area kids as well."
"If you go in there be prepared to be “SIZED UP & DOWN” so they can evaluate how they’re going to try & scam you. I put up with it for a period, as they have great prices, but the last time I said “NO MORE!”. I add up my items before going to the register & multiple times they would added an additional $3,$4 & $5 hoping I didn’t notice. When I asked them to recalculate everything they first got angry & then embarrassed since I caught them! An absolutely INSANE request was “since we rang it up already, can you find something that will make up the accidental overcharge? WHAT! I said “you must be joking! I want you to takeoff the extra charges, you tried to slip in when you thought I wasn’t looking.” You see, just because I’m a middle-aged white woman, doesn’t mean that I’m rolling in dough. I’m shopping where everybody else is shopping because that’s what I can afford to do. Shame on you!"
"I love this thrift shop! I never leave empty handed. The store was renovated and it gives a boutique feel and it’s so cute. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Love finding vintage gems here as well!"
"I moved from Hightstown to Florida in August of 2017, and ever since I moved, I've tried my best to keep track of all the changes that have been taking place in my hometown through friends and social media. Recently, I discovered that there was an Instagram page for the Rise Thrift Store in Hightstown which caught my attention immediately because I used to be a volunteer at Rise in 2014. I started following the page and loved how all the pictures were professionally photographed and there were clothing drops each week with a variety of different clothes that could be ordered from the comfort of my own home; even in Florida!! When I messaged the account after finding a shirt I liked, I was helped by Caroline who helped me get a true perspective of the shirt I was ordering before I even received it. The payment process was a breeze and my shirt arrived to my house a couple weeks later. The shirt is very comfortable, and the condition of the shirt felt like I just bought it at a department store for $40. I wore my shirt for the second time yesterday at work and received two compliments on it! One of those compliments actually led to me making a new friend. Along with the shirt came a handwritten note thanking me for shopping with Rise and to keep supporting them in the future. I have every intention of doing so, and I'm happy to see Rise and the Hightstown community doing so well after seeing the state that it was in when I was volunteering in 2014!"
