Gardner Medical Associates

"Dr. Shyrelle Gardner has retired. Gardner Medical Associates receives no stars from me. I am giving them a star, just so I am able to post a review. I find the current office staff to be highly unprofessional and unhelpful. Over the past few months I have had to contact the office staff of Gardner Medical Associates many times. FYI: Dr. Gardner has not owned the facility for about a year. I and my pharmacist have had numerous difficulties trying to get prescriptions for refills faxed. Each time I contacted the office I was told that the prescriptions had been faxed. However, my pharmacist said otherwise. It took a couple of weeks and too many calls before my last prescription was faxed. I had been Dr. Gardner's patient for over 20 years. My mother had been her patient even longer. I called the office about 2 weeks prior to Dr. Gardner leaving. I informed the woman I spoke to that my mother, who is 96 yrs old, needed a call from the office to Penn's at home care to restart her physical therapy. The woman actually said to me "she didn't have time to do it and I would have to call". When I called PENN they informed me that the doctor's office would have to call so that PENN could let them know the procedure. I then called again to the doctor's office. I let them know what I was told by PENN and gave the woman the PENN contact information. I checked with PENN on a couple of occasions, no call had been made. I called Dr. Gardner's office several times and left messages for the doctor to call me. After a week, I again contacted PENN. No call was made by the doctor's office to PENN. I then went to the office to see if I could rectify the situation. I was informed that Dr. Gardner had retired. Ok, but that was not news. Nor should it effect the contacting of PENN At Home Care. My mother really needs the PT. The woman I had spoken to evidently was not there. Another staff member was no help at all. There is a nurse practitioner in the office for patient care now. I am really questioning whether I or the rest of my family, also my sister, will continue with Gardner Associates."

"Today 7/25/22 I arrived to my appointment today and Dr. Gardner was no longer in the office. This was a huge disappointment because Dr.Gardner has been my PCP for more than 30 years. She is an excellent physician and I will miss her greatly. She had the utmost compassion and respect for her patients. A trusting patient/physician relationship is very important in healthcare especially in the Black community. I must admit that this office is horrible under this new management. Direct quote from nurse practitioner “I’m just here working” so she is just there for a pay check. My appointment was at 11am today and I left that office at 3pm. Congratulations to Dr. Gardner on her retirement and I wish Dr. Gardner all the best that life has to offer. The new management is a bunch of buffoons. The 5 stars are for Dr. Gardner. The new staff doesn’t deserve any stars all."

"Dr. Gardner is a very good physician but her staff is unprofessional and ghetto to say the least. I have no doubt this doctor is losing patients because of the way these people treat patients. They are incompetent, rude, and unprofessional. I left there and you can bet that I will do EVERYTHING in my power to have them removed. That is NOT the place to go if you want courteous and professional health care. That receptionist and so called office manager is THE WORST. They conduct themselves like they are in a project courtyard instead of a professional place of business. You have been warned.."

"Dr. Gardner saved my life twice, her association with the best doctors that love taking care of their patients. I'm alive today because of the correct oncologist to treat my stage 4 Breast Cancer. And a ENT doctor that found out from a xray of my sinuses that my frontal sinuses never developed.. I couldn't breathe.. And doctor Gardner discovered I had asthma. She listens to her patient's concerns. I highly recommend doctor Gardner."

"In error the doctors staff submitted my blood work to the wrong lab and now I am being billed for $1500 and the doctor and her staff have refused to address the problem as indicated by their lack of action. It has now been over a year and after repeatedly reaching out to the doctor's office they have yet to return my calls or attempt to resolve the issue. I even went to the office and provided copies of the invoice and was assured by the doctor herself the issue would be handled and here we are 8 months later and nothing has been addressed. I was a patient for 20 + years and this is how I am being treated. Needless to say I have changed PCP's as this is not the practice I wish to entrust my future care. Patient be ware."
