"Justyna, Joanne, Pam, Lana, Pat and Chrischel were amazing with my mother’s treatment! They always made her feel welcome and comfortable. They were all extremely nice. These kinds of people make the world a better place to be!"
"The people here are amazing. Radiation is a scary process to go through, but the entire staff made me feel safe, cared for, and even loved from the very first appointment. Everyone is friendly and warm and always has a smile. I can tell they enjoy coming to work. The staff goes above and beyond for their patients. I had treatment on my birthday, and the RTs made it legitimately one of the best parts of my day by showing me love. I can honestly say I miss seeing them every day!"
"Simply the best treatment experience! Although all of the Virtua and Penn caregivers have been outstanding, this team of doctors, nurses and technicians were exemplary! Their expertise, compassion, and professionalism were so genuine, and over and above any care I have ever received. They managed to makes a very intensive treatment regimen an easy going, successful and positive journey. I am so grateful for their efforts."
"The entire staff from the doctors down were so caring and compassionate. Because of the team, the time in treatments went by quickly. All questions and concerns were answered in a timely manner. The surroundings were comfortable and the patients’ support team got to support each other also. The journey was less stressful because of the support of the staff. Thanks to Dr. Williams and the staff at Virtua-Penn."
"As Google only allows a maximum of a five-star rating, let me start by adding another five stars for this 10-Star Team. How lucky was I to have a combination of first-class Penn Medicine doctors and Virtua Health nurses, technicians, and administrative support staff working seamlessly together at the Penn-Virtua Proton Therapy Center, newly opened in April 2023, a first-of-its kind, state-of-the-art proton radiation facility in South Jersey close to my home to treat my prostate cancer. My initial consultation with Dr. Graeme Williams in June 2023 was a very uplifting experience. He was cheerful, upbeat, and very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. I began my proton treatments at Penn-Virtua in Voorhees in early October 2023. What I thought would be a lengthy, anxiety-ridden experience over the next several weeks proved to be just the opposite. My daily routine began with a short drive to the facility, where there was always ample, free parking only steps away from the main entrance. The Radiation Oncology Department was just off to the left upon entering the building. The waiting room was spacious, clean and modern with a large TV to keep patients entertained. Each day I was met by the welcoming faces of Peggy and Shelly, the receptionists/schedulers, who always greeted me with a big smile and held a pleasant conversation with me upon check-in. We had daily conversations about the Phillies in the playoffs. Christine in the accounting department was always available to answer any insurance or billing questions I had. My appointment always began exactly on time and even a bit earlier if I arrived a bit earlier, thanks to Peggy and Shelly. I proceeded through the double doors and down the short hall to the nurse’s station, where I was met with an enthusiastic greeting from nurses Kelli, Sandra, Tammie, and Sunny. Each week, one of them took my blood pressure and weight, offering me helpful advice on ways to improve my overall health and well-being. I then walked to the dressing room, which was always clean, and changed into a fresh gown in one of the dressing stalls, placing my personal items in a small locker. A few minutes later, one of the members of my radiation technician team came by to tell me they were ready and I followed them down another hallway into the proton radiation room. My technicians, Heather, Ed, Lana, and Chrischel were all extremely friendly, humorous, and most importantly, very skilled in their jobs. The entire process in the proton room was quick and completely painless. I was in and out of each treatment within 15 minutes and in and out of the facility within an hour each day. And once each week, I met with Dr. Williams after the treatment to discuss my progress, any side effects I was experiencing, and next steps. I also had very pleasant phone conversations with Connie, the nurse navigator who made herself available anytime I needed support. My side effects throughout the weeks were minimal, thankfully. Before I knew it, I was arriving for my final treatment. The entire staff was there and they all came out to the lobby to witness my ceremonial reading of the poem on the wall plaque and ringing of the bell, signifying the completion of my treatments. I exchanged a big hug and thank you with each and every one of them. It was a very emotional moment for me, saying goodbye to my newly-adopted family. If you’re looking for a top-notch team of skilled, compassionate, caring, and friendly healthcare professionals to fully embrace you and make your journey through cancer treatments as pleasant and positive as possible, look no further than the team at the Penn-Virtua Radiation Oncology Department and Proton Therapy Center in Voorhees, NJ! Thank you all!"
