"Would give zero if possible. I felt completely invalidated by Laura whenever I ended up in her care on the ER floor at St.Clair on January 5, 2024. I have intrusive thoughts OCD which results in a huge irrational fear of many different things. One of those being hospitals, IVs, and having my blood taken. So when she told me about needing to take my blood & put in an IV, I started crying. I understand that maybe it is frustrating when you have a patient with mental illness whose making the job more difficult but all I was doing was crying, I was not refusing to get it done, not threatening anyone, nothing but crying. I know these people are working so hard and deserve a break which is why I don’t need to be coddled, just never wanted to be absolutely humiliated. She could’ve just ignored it like the other staff did when they came into do the IV and get my blood. Instead, she repeatedly told me to stop and cut it out as if I’m not human. She said how do I expect to ever get a procedure acting like this. Then when she came out to give me my results she said “thank god you’re not getting hysterical on me this time” then told me I will most likely need surgery which then sent me into another panic which she responded to by walking out of the room and saying “we're not doing this” instead of answering my further questions. Instead of asking her the questions, I ended up feeling more comfortable asking other staff members who didn’t understand my full condition because Laura is the one who was my doctor. I am now terrified 100x more than before about seeing doctors and getting my blood taken. No patient should ever be met with that sort of disrespect just because I have a mental illness. I was a wreck for weeks after leaving, and have had horrible panic attacks surrounding follow-ups. I hope she was just having a bad day and doesn’t normally treat people this way."
