"My sister is a patient of Petros. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in February 2023. The cancer mestastised to her brain. Since september she has been in and out of UPMC Shadyside. They cant get the brain swelling down.I think these drs are awful! In 2023 they cant get brain swelling down. My sister is fighting for her life.She's been in the hospital for a month. Still cant get any answers. If you have cancer do yourself a favor. Dont go to UPMC Shadyside. real answers"

"Our experience yesterday was positive from the beginning to the end.Valet parking entering the building being greeted as we entered his office.The tall beautiful balck girl greeted us led us to the coffee bar and got us snacks.The girl who registered us was kind,the nurse was so very nice.Dr petro could not have been more attentive,he spent time answered all our questions laid out a plan and he had a great sense of humor,I would highly recommend him."

"I would give Petro a big fat zero rating for his horrible care of my father. He did not care or show respect for him at all. After he told us he would no longer provide treatment for my father’s lung cancer, he lived another 11 months with my mom, brother, grandsons, son in law, and I taking much better care of him without even having any medical knowledge. We were on the job training day by day. Since January, 2022 when Petro released my father of his care, he has not contacted us. I was an advocate for my father consistently reviewing my dad’s test results prior to his appointments so that I could ask pertinent questions. Petro did not like that at all. My perception is that Petro doesn’t approve of family members accessing the UPMC APP and advocating for their family members. I hope this review dissuades any cancer patient from selecting a doctor who is so uncaring, unkind, and disrespectful."

"Can’t really say how disappointed I am in UPMC as a whole. But I never felt Dr. Petro ever cared that my Dad was dying of esophageal cancer. He rarely would come to the doctors visits. He had no bedside manner, and he certainly wasn’t there fighting for my dad. I felt like he treated my dad like a number and not a person. His oncology nurse did everything and was WONDERFUL. Actually got back to us with our concerns and was there for us. Is that the nature of these practices ? I don’t know. I just know my Dad deserved much more. He deserved someone that cared and acted as such, and listened to my Dad’s concerns. Not just sending us off with chemo and shooing us away. That’s the impression I’m left with Dr. Petro. I see other people had good experiences and I wish that was the case for us."

"My husband has been a patient of Dr. Petro and his journey has been amazing with this man and his team. Never did we have a concern for the care that was received, as it was excellent!! We chose to drive 2 to 2/12 hours for every visit, as we wanted the best that we could find and he and his team was the answer! We were treated with kindness and respect, with empathy and patience, we were treated like we were family. He is the best!"
