"I came to Princeton Center for DBT several years ago feeling anxious, hopeless, and crippled by my trauma and PTSD. I can wholeheartedly say it was one of the best decisions I ever made by coming to this practice. Over the years I have had the pleasure to get to know or work with in their top-notch DBT support groups many of the clinicians at this practice and they are all incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, supportive, and work endlessly to help their clients. Four years ago I started on my journey working individually with Lona S. After trying several trauma therapists in the past something just felt so different this time, early on I felt connected, a sense of safety, cared about, heard and understood, and a true sense of trust. Within a couple months of our work together for the first time in my life I could open up and go into the severe trauma I endured and do the necessary work. Lona actively listens and has such incredible insight, she is highly skilled in a variety of modalities with immense knowledge and background in DBT and will continuously work to find the best approach for each individual, her dedication and compassion is second to none, and she will always go the extra mile to work on and work through things fully with you. When I first met Lona I was lost, scared, my trauma dictated so much of my life, and my confidence and sense of self were at an all-time low, with Lona's support and our work together I have over the years been able to finally take the steps and achieve so many of the things I have always wanted for myself and to slowly gain my voice back. Lona is an outstanding clinician and has been there for me through it all, from my darkest times to my successes, and I am incredibly thankful for her time, patience, her effort, and dedication. For any one out there feeling scared or not sure I was you, but I assure you that taking that first step and calling Princeton Center for DBT and setting up an appointment can be life changing !"
"This center offers such a wide array of programs with multiple therapists you can choose from. I worked primarily with Lona for over three years. Not only is she an amazing listener, but she is highly experienced and has an excellent intuition for figuring out what course of treatment best suits you and what really is the underlying issue at stake. I first came in thinking I was getting relationship counseling, but my sessions ended up helping me work through some profound family issues and problems with my career path. Lona was available and reachable on especially hard days and held my hand throughout the whole process. Now I am at a completely different place in my life and dare I say I feel happy! I strongly recommend taking the courage to make your first appointment. Definitely life changing."

Twin Rivers, East Windsor, NJ 231 10/27/2022 I went back into therapy at the beginning of the pandemic due to overwhelming fear - which I'd thought I'd handled through prior therapy with other providers. However, with the emergence of COVID, the fear re-emerged in full force, to a near-paralyzing degree. Lona provided such kindness, encouraging feedback, and usable techniques that I was able to separate a bit from the irrational beliefs and live more fully in the moment right beside them. I also joined a DBT group as well as attended weekly individual therapy, and the skills I learned in both places and practiced throughout the weeks helped to trigger a part of the brain that is more rational and productive. These skill sets in both therapies - for a course of about two years - revolutionized my life. I had been in and out of therapy for many years, but through this practice began to see where the old, deep-seated fear lived, was able to challenge and overcome it more thoroughly than ever before. DBT has many skills to teach that allows one to live successfully with opposites, such as fear and the walking through it. Many therapies talk of doing the same kind of work, but I found Lona brought an art to her practice that let me feel safe enough to move forward and reclaim my life. Through her gentle support, I was able to go back to school online during the pandemic and complete six courses that allowed me to finally realize a dream that I had put off for 35 years: that of becoming a licensed mental health counselor, which as of last month, I now am. As you can see, I have nothing but the highest regard for this practice. It saved my emotional life and gave me a new life. Lisa D."
"The therapy I received here expanded my horizons for what I thought was even possible for mental health treatment. In fact, it even made me raise my standards for my future quality of care. Heather was the best individual therapist I’ve ever had, which is saying a lot. I was impressed at how skillfully she balanced gentleness with pushing me towards my growth. My time here was worth every penny because I finally have hope again, which is priceless. It was life-changing to transition from feeling defective to feeling whole. I will carry the people I met here in my heart forever."
"I have recommended the Princeton Center for DBT to friends, family and my own patients over the past 5 years. I started seeing Lona S. at that time, periodically, after only having gone to a therapist once before and having had an incredibly negative experience. I found Lona to be knowledgeable, comfortable, generous with her time, understanding and supportive. She has over the years helped me with skills to deal with several stressful situations that had come up. I can also say from direct reports from people for whom I recommended the practice, that her colleagues were also incredibly gifted clinicians. DBT is a therapy that is helpful for so many people with and without psychiatric diagnosis. To have a center here in Princeton, with several talented and skilled professionals, is a great asset to the community."
