"I paid to explain my identity to an unprepared therapist. I thought that therapist were supposed to be versed in human behavior and sociology. After my therapist making very bold judgements on my life, I ended up spending my session not getting served, but educating my therapist on the nuances of queer identity. Felt like a waste of time and money"
"I saw a therapist who works at Main Line Counceling & Wellness for about a year and I was impressed with what a great listener the therapist was, and besides the obvious knowledge of the therapist I had who has excellent tools to share that helped me with my well-being, I was also impressed by the genuine kindness and compassion of my therapist. I can't speak for every therapist who works there but my experience was very good."
"Our specific experience is limited to one professional on staff - Susan W - who has been a terrific resource for us. I found her after some web research (of course) and her background and areas of expertise seemed like a good fit for us. My husband and I are wired very differently so it says a lot that we both really appreciate her approach in working with us. Highly recommended."
"The therapists there are awesome. Our therapist is knowledgable, very easy to take to and engaging in listening. Their space is bright and comfortable. However I strongly recommend they find a new scheduler/medical biller. Calling once and leaving a voicemail you can expect to not hear from her. You must call 3 to 4 times and email 1 to 2 times to get a call back or email the week following your calls and emails. The practice requires a credit card to stay on file for copays, and the medical biller has charged my credit card without my knowledge. When i requested a breakdown of why the charge was applied the medical biller couldn't explain what the charges were for. My insurance covered the full payment for service, but still had to pull teeth to have the charge reversed. Therapy is meant to reduce stress, the administrative side of this practice can feel at times as though the purpose of therapy is being negated."
"Fortunately, this is one of the few negative reviews I've had to share. Let me start by saying I was very excited to possibly work with this group. I have given them this rating based on my experience with their staff prior to even meeting with them, as you may read below. I found Main Line Counseling & Wellness Center, Inc. through my insurance providers network, and reached out on March 7, 2016 to set up a meeting. They called me back almost 24 hours later which is ok, because a 24 response policy is mentioned on their voicemail. Cool, but not as timely as the other reviewers experience. After speaking with an Intake Specialist on March 8, 2016, I was asked to fill out some initial information in an email, and asked to register online. Registration took about 30 full minutes, after which I confirmed my appointment for March 10, 2016 at 8pm. So far, so good. I was emailed a lengthy contract after registration, and spent about 45 minutes to 1 hour filling it out in preparation for my 8pm meeting on March 10, 2016. But at 4pm on March 10, 2016, I was called by their office to say that the therapist needed to reschedule due to an emergency, and that she would call me the next day to set up another appointment. I was disappointed to hear that, and more so that another date was not offered at the time of cancellation. I started to have my doubts about working with this group, but I had already invested about 1.5 hours, so, I thought I'd see where it went. Today, March 11, 2016, I got a call from the therapist and we set an appointment for 6pm tonight, March 11, 2016. I was glad to reschedule quickly, and curiously asked the therapist if the same expectations and handling of emergency cancellations applied to the patient side, given part of their contract states that patients are expected to pay for sessions if canceled with less than 24 hours notice. I wanted to know that the respect and understanding I had shown would be returned should I find myself needing to cancel due to an emergency with less than 24 hours notice. I was told that would be, and I was looking forward to my session at 6pm. However, one of their owners, Susan, called me shortly after to tell me she had canceled my 6pm appointment, because she felt we did not start off on the right foot, and that she felt their was not mutual trust due to the the therapists cancellation, and my inquiry about the 24 hour cancellation policy. I'm really disheartened and almost feel violated; I shared very intimate details about myself with people who I will never now meet. I also feel like I was told that I am not trust worthy simply because of my inquiry into how emergency cancellations are handled, given my experience, and their contractual obligations."
