"We went out for a fun date night and enjoyed ourselves with the gorgeous dining experience. The ambiance inside is well balanced with decor and architectural designs. On with the negatives and positives, we were informed that we needed to arrive 10-15 minutes early. Please don't do that if you have a 5oclock reservation. You will be waiting outside. It seems they have a hard door open time. Us and a few other couples were shivering in the outdoors together. Food wise, the small plates were delicious. Albeit far too pricey for the amount given. The raw fish (kanpachi I believe) was so well done, it took me back to Japan and the good sushi restaurants there. The bread however was a bit overcooked and the crust couldn't be eaten easily. The gnocchi was delicious but, it was a a far cry from the ones made in Italy. However, the generous dose of shredded truffle on top was amazing. The beef Wellington was quite underwhelming. It was our first time having it and neither of us would care to order it anywhere again. I had heard it described as 'melt in your mouth' but it was a bit chewy. More like a thick cut of 'ok' fish. Furthermore, the dish was lacking in both salt and umami. Additionally, the steak knives were in need of sharpening causing our dish to fall apart a bit too much. The filet in the interior was, lackluster. The one thing I loved was the sauce poured around the exterior. We'd been told this was the best but, we'd both have rather just had a steak. The food was definitely good but, I don't think it is worth the price so we won't be dining here again."
"Incredible food, nothing on the menu we didn’t devour! We ordered quite a BIT and were STUFFED. Price was as expected but worth it. My only pro-tip is call ahead to reserve a private booth for a date night etc (if desired) since some of the spaces to eat are VERY near other diners. Also there is affordable parking right next to the restaurant. Otherwise, full marks for this one! Oh and the “pommes” live UP to the hype!"
"Disappointing. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and clean. Service was excellent at times but other times lackluster. We appreciate the wait staff working as a team to replace our silverware between courses but our waiter was hard to find at times and refused a special dessert request without asking the kitchen. The food was most disappointing. We entered expecting rich, vibrant flavors with unique presentations, on par with The Precinct, Capital Grill, or Prime. But many dishes fell flat. The best dishes were the Souffle and Arpege salad. The "American in Paris" egg was too tart. Foir Gras was salty (although the accompanied pear compote and panetone were good). Rockafella oysters and lobster roll were average and forgettable. The agnolotti and Bolognese were average. You can tell the noodles are freshly made but the sauce was mildly flavored for the bolognese (it required a lot of cheese to taste anything) and the agnolotti had a slimy metallic aftertaste. Lastly, the salmon was cooked well - crispy skin and soft center with a tasty sauce. But the dessert menu was unappealing. Perhaps the disappointing entrees spoiled our experience, but we always look forward to dessert and none of the options seemed particularly appealing. We tried the "candy bar 3.0" which was overwhelming with chocolate. The brownie base was crumbly instead of soft and chewy. the nougat was good but overwhelmed by the hard case of dark chocolate and the small dollop of ice cream was not enough to cleanse the palate between bites. I felt like I needed to drink a full glass of water between bites to wash the chocolate sticking to the roof of my mouth. Overall it tasted like an overpriced Snickers. Before ordering we requested if they could bring us a creme brulee (previously on the menu), but our waiter refused saying it is not on the menu (we wish he would have asked the kitchen or manager). Overall, it was a decently pleasurable experience. Not terrible, but not as exciting as we had hoped. I would certainly go again but temper your expectations, stick to a few good dishes, and walk down the street to Graeters for dessert."
"Great service, great variety, and excellent cocktails. The most fun dishes were the halibut and leek for me. The leek was just a symphony of textures, flavors, and temperature shrprises. It was cold but was so soft, creamy but also very well seasoned and sweet at the same time. It was delightful. The halibut was unexpectedly smoky and perfectly cooked. It stood on its own but with all the sauce and vegetables, mushrooms and puree under it, the dish had an amazing perfect bite when you put all of them together. Overall, i would love to try them again for when the menu changes."
"I love small plates style because you get to try a lot of different flavors. Prepare to order a lot of dishes, and you might not leave full if you’re not prepared to spend. Food and atmosphere is worth it, but the service makes Boca stand out. Our waiter described the history of the location and menu, and provided great recommendations. I watched him curate when dishes came out and always made sure we had what we needed. Absolutely recommend this restaurant for any special occasion."
