Reviews of St. Vincent de Paul Society
"I had conversation with Michael March in reference to getting some rental assistance for a young lady i know who happens to be a single mom that struck hard times . Upon their interaction i would not recommend this organization to anyone . Michael was very rude and didnt seem to take any sense of urgency in the situation at all. Michael told the young lady he would be able to get the documents and review and if they were approved he would help her out . Once he received the documents he promised he would be able to get everything squared away within the next day or two . Which is what she proceeded to tell her landlord . Now I understand there are lots of people that need help but it was down to the point that he would text her at 10 at night requesting a huge NEW list of paperwork he would need from her and then when she sent it in the same minute , even as they were actually on the phone. He would just very sarcastically say "nope i didnt get it cant help you" then continued to ignore her for several days even after the promise that it would be taken care of in the next two days . Even after her trying multiple different ways of communication he would still say he doesnt get her messages ,multiple emails , with the paperwork requested . Michael was extremely rude and had a very bad "its not really my problem " type of attitude. Even after HE contacted her weeks after her application ,he would still lead her on to thinking they could help then ghost her again. . I feel really bad for even recommending this organization to this young lady because he gave her hope of help and then just completely degraded her and made her feel as if she wasnt worthy of "HIS " help . I really hope there are other people that will see this and correct his behavior. This is a very sad situation for this to be considered such a big community resource for those in need ."
"Wonderful shop. Very friendly, helpful staff. Nice items, displayed neatly. Will definitely go back."
"Stopped in looking for glass vases and things made by Fenton, Viking and others. Some of their items were highly overpriced. Your dish is not carnival Glass, it's amberina. And you had a price for about 30 more dollars than it's actually worth. Had some other Amber blown glass items by Viking, your price on those were about $25 more than what they were actually worth. Your pricing items high and you don't even know who makes them. I suggest researching items especially when it comes to glass because you're taking things and turning them into premium. They're not premium nor are they rare so you shouldn't be pricing items for twice their fair market value. People do donate these items to you, right? Oh, by the way, you got a couple items in there that are from the Dollar tree. If you look on the bottom of the knick knacks they say Dollar tree. You're about three times higher than than they are. I would correct those discrepancies."
"I shop here at least once or twice a month. Generally, the staff is friendly, and good selection. The vintage items can sometimes be over priced. My biggest complaint is the use of masking tape to keep items together. Pictured is a beautiful napkin ruined by the masking tape adhesive. I will try a third time to remove it. Management! Yoo hoo! Rubber bands, safety pins, twine …anything but masking tape!"
"We shop here very often and donate used items as well. Love these folks. They are very organized and efficient and take very good care of the items that are donated. We probably visit them once a week. We have found lots of great items over the years. They are doing a good work for the community."
