"I was nervous at first because it took me 6 months to make my initial appointment, and I was only able to do so after my insurance changed (they do not accept Aetna for new patients, and no longer accept United health care). Little did I understand how grateful I would be for this office until I caught COVID-19 for the first time. Stefanie Jennings (FNP-C) has been a lynchpin in my care, and I put my full trust in her recommendations. When my symptoms veered into Long COVID and POTS territory, I came loaded with diaries of my heart rates and dozens of articles and research. She was familiar with every new piece of research I brought, and crafted a unique treatment plan for me that helped transform my wellness. Are the wait times long? Sometimes. Is it hard to get an appointment? Occasionally. Do I recommend this practice and this doctor? Absolutely yes and to everyone I know. Every doctor I have spoken to in this practice (I've met them all) actually listens, asks deeply inquisitive questions, and 100% goes the extra mile to ensure the best possible care. Given their functional medicine orientation they excel at treating complex conditions like fibromyalgia, dysautonomia, SIBO, POTS, long covid, and countless others. They are one of the only functional medicine practices in the greater DMV to accept insurance. The affordability and accessibility of their care (they offer virtual visits too!) cannot be more emphasized. Because they take insurance, unlike most functional medicine practices, you may need to schedule appointments with greater frequency because they limit the number of issues to tackle per appointment to 3 (about 20-30 minutes). However they keep this model for OUR benefit. It makes the practice affordable because it allows their appointments to align to health insurance expectations, and they are still highly consultative in the process. Doctors and Nurse Practitioners and I consider myself fortunate to have found a practice that truly cares for their patients. At least in our (my wife and I) experiences Sterling Family Practice doesn't push any agenda, they guide and provide sound advice on various paths to treatment whether Western medicine or Holistic care. Having an on-site facility for blood and urine work is a huge plus and time saver. The staff appears very efficient, but I never feel my sessions are rushed and my time with the doctor or NP is a comfortable pace with ample time to address and/or discuss my needs. "Stay away from this place. The doctors might be great but the staff is so rude. The way they answer you and the way they cut you off when you call its ridiculous. The doctors there need to hire better staff you're providing customer service they need to keep that in mind. I will not be a patient of theirs. I rather drive an hour to my regular doctor then be a patient here. The staff answers the phone and questions like they are bitter."
