Reviews of Penn State Health Medical Group - White Rose
"No longer a family practice. I have been a patient here for over 20 years. Before they sold out to Penn State, I would have recommended them to anyone. Now? Staff turn over rates are alarming. Twice now my PCP has left the practice. The two remaining doctors are great however they are overworked and thus cannot take on new patients. I am told that my only option for a PCP is one of two physicians assistants. My experience with PAs has not been stellar. I'm told I can wait for a new doctor to be hired, however, estimated time for this is at least 6 months. Truly sad, this was a wonderful place. Now, office staff is hit or miss, some are lovely but some are quite rude. Mistakes happen frequently. In the past six months, I had had tests ordered that I was told I would receive a call to schedule, no call came. I've had tests results where no one ever calls me with information so I am left to go to Google to try and figure out what everything means. One day, I had a very fast heart rate out of the blue hours before a dental appointment. I questioned if anesthesia would be safe so I called the office. I was told no one was available, which is fine, but that they would note it as an emergency and have someone call me ASAP. No call came until 8 pm that night, many hours after my 1 pm appointment with the dentist that I was concerned about. I know they are overworked and understaffed, but it is frightening when you can't call in and receive a timely response. I once again had to play web doctor and figure out what was best. I want to stay as it is convenient and familiarity is comforting but I find it increasingly difficult to do so. I'm holding out hope they get some new staff hired and things improve, but, if you are shopping for a new doctor, for the time being at least, I would steer clear."
"This office was the best before Penn State Health took over. Now every time I need a refill I am told I need an appointment first by a very rude office staff member. When I questioned why I need an appointment for a refill since I just had an appointment to meet a new Dr. I was told it was the law that I have an appointment because I have not been treated there for a while. When I reminded them I just had 2 appointments since Labor Day I was told I have never had a physical there. Since I have been going to this office for 20 years or so I know I have had a physical there and then they remember that I had one in 2021 but I still need an appointment for a refill of asthma meds. Then when I call in and ask to speak with a supervisor or manager I am transferred back to the same person who called me and told me it was the law. After finally speaking to the office manager and having them check with my Dr. They can refill my meds without an appointment and it was a mistake. But I thought it was the law? How did that change so quick? The office staff don’t know anything about meds, and when you call to get you prescription sent to the correct pharmacy they try to tell the Dr. You need a different med than the one you asked to be refilled. Cara K. Is wonderful but I miss the old office staff, management , nurses and Doctors that left especially Dr. Kepner. We will be looking for a new Dr. Very soon. Sick of paying for Urgent care when I have a sinus infection because I can’t go to my doctors office when I am sick. It was ridiculous when everyone was panicked about Covid but it is even more ridiculous now."
"Wow! This place has really gone down hill. After Dr. Carpenter left, they can’t seem to get it together. Doctors that have been there for years are leaving so that must mean something. They have no sense of urgency. I’ve called 3x since Friday about having my daughters medication refilled. Just spoke with the office manager who basically said “oh well” they need time to get it taken care of. Guess it’s time to start looking for a new doctors office. You definitely are just a number at this place."
"Do not walk, run away from this place. I have been going there for years and am on my 3rd practitioner. The two PA's I loved left abruptly. Now I am with Dr. Schreeve who I have seen twice and I find abrasive. I was seen for a very alarming heart issue and was placed on a monitor. Took over a month to get the results, then I received notification they were received by Wellspan and after a week of not hearing from them I called. I could be seen in two weeks or could go to cardiology. I opted to go with a specialist, needless to say after several calls to them they said they kept sending the referral and the results but never did. I finally made the appointment myself weeks later. This place is a medical malpractice waiting to happen, do not trust your life in these people's hands they do not care one bit! Needless to say I am not going back!"
"Though there are many wonderful physicians at White Rose Family Practice (Dr. Kepner, Dr. Mills, Dr. Mann), there are also employees who I feel are just not suited to be caring for patients. When my primary doctor was not available, I saw Joanne Richard on three occasions and have literally started telling the staff when I call that I will not see her, even if it means waiting another week. I don't feel that she genuinely listened or cared about my concerns and she brushed off actual problems that became larger problems after she did not treat the issue. I am grateful that Dr. Kepner now has more hours and availability so that I am able to see her every time I go in. She has always been consistent in her attentiveness, genuine interest and supportive nature. I would recommend this doctor's office as long as you have the opportunity to choose one of the doctors who actually cares. Also, a huge shout out to my favorite nurses, Ann Marie & Jeannie. They take the time to interact with my children even when they aren't assigned to see us and they always have great big smiles on their faces. Love you, Ann Marie & Jeannie =)"
