"This is just flat out good food. The She Crab soup is incredible. You won't find a better burger anywhere in the area. The restaurant itself was built in 1710 and the vibe takes you back to the Colonial Era with two large fireplaces and old world decor. The owners are very involved and are nice people. The bartender is also top notch. You can get the kind of cocktails here that you'd see on the menu in a much larger city. This is a must-do if you're in this beautiful part of Virginia."
"Outstanding cocktails. Smoked old fashion was amazing. Oyster Rockefella soup was amazing. Cesar salad with anchovies top notch. Steak was a bit fatty, and flounder needed a little season. But overall an amazing experience. White chocolate flourless cake was outstanding. A top dining experience."
"Had the crab benedict and crab soup. Best Iβve ever had! Old world charm and history. Very unique with lovely atmosphere, ambiance, and charm!"
"Four friends sought out an evening of great food, ambiance, and service and were not disappointed in their fine dining experience. We ordered four different menu items, started with two apps, cocktails, and wine with dinner. We all, however, thought that bread would be a nice addition at the table. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will be a return customer."
"Delicious Gourmet Dining in a Totally Updated Tavern circa 1710 in the Northern Neck/Middle Peninsula area. Amazing Chef with Great Seafood and Meat Offerings Salad sand Desserts all Made in House. You will not be left Hungry with the Large Portions not Usually Found in Upscale Eateries of this Quality If not from the area come stay at the Historic Essex also owned by the Huff Family."
