"MOLD WARNING: My fiancé and I had a very similar (although not identical) experience to one of the other recent reviewers. That is, everything is nice until you say you want to leave. When we first started renting here, we were super excited. It is relatively quiet compared to most apartment complexes, many of the units *SEEM* nice, and I never felt worried when my fiancé would walk her dog around. Always people out and about walking their dogs, too. The trouble came towards the end. I had chronic health issues when I was younger that were thankfully non-existent for the last several years due to many changes that I made naturally, but my health quickly deteriorated while living here. We had NO IDEA what was going on. Nothing else changed in my life other than moving. It got so bad that the last month we were there, I had to buy a monitor for blood oxygen levels at night because we suspected sleep apnea (I am not overweight, quite the opposite, but I was waking up gasping for air and scaring the heck out of my fiancé in the middle of the night because my nose was clogged shut). I also started dealing with large amounts of pain in multiple areas of my body, and despite having always been active and never really getting injured, I got injured FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES through otherwise normal activities while living here. My performance at work severely suffered, too, because I have to be in front of people speaking/presenting constantly and my brain just couldn't do it anymore. Finally, we had to accept it was the apartment. We didn't know what was happening, but it was the only correlation. We tested it out by staying in a hotel and, to our amazement, my nostrils cleared up in just the first night. We did some digging around the apartment and discovered black mold in the same vents that blow directly into our bedroom. Now, to be clear, finding black mold in and of itself can happen to anyone, anywhere. And it would be hard to prove that it didn't grow while we were living in the apartment (although that is almost certainly untrue considering how fast my symptoms came on). HOWEVER, due to the Canadian fires that occurred this summer, the maintenance team came into each apartment and replaced the air filters. When we opened up the air vents ourselves, we saw the old filter STILL SITTING in the vent! My symptoms had already long started since then. What this means is that maintenance came in, saw the black mold, did NOTHING to warn us, and carried on accordingly. These health issues have cost me so much in my life already, and forced us to leave the apartment early. What was Stonington's response? They CHARGED US on our security deposit due to the "carpet smelling". (Mind you, we don't even wear shoes in the places we live, not even Airbnbs that we visit.) When we explained that the smell was the mold that THEY left in our apartment, they didn't want to hear it. The only thing we asked was to be given that part of the security deposit back and receive our last month's rent since we had to move out early, but they never sent anything over. We are now pursuing legal action as a result. STAY AWAY FROM THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX. Like the other reviewer said, they're nice until you leave."
"It was a great experience. Hannah Neal, the Assistant Manager, made every step of the process very easy. She was so helpful and easy to communicate with."
"Very expensive for the amount of space you're getting. And once you tell them that you're not renewing your lease, all grace, kindness, and professionalism from the leasing office go right out the window! The maintenance people are nice, helpful, and quick to help with your repairs."
"There couldn’t be anyone nicer, more knowledgeable and helpful than Hannah! She has the ability to make moving seem to be a joy rather than a trial. Stonington Farm is beautiful community, and I’m looking forward to being a part of it!"
"I just moved into the Stonington Farm Apartments and I am so thrilled with my apartment and the management staff. Hannah, The Assistant Manager could not be nicer. She has gone out of her way to make me feel welcome and at home here. She’s gone above and beyond to make sure everything in my apartment is to my liking. The apartment is beautiful and it already feels like home, even though it’s only been a week. I just want to thank Hannah and Stonington Farm Apartments for making my new home so wonderful and welcoming!"
