Haverford College Athletics, located at 370 Lancaster Avenue in Haverford, Pennsylvania, is a premier institution for student-athletes. The Douglas B. Gardner '83 Integrated Athletic Center (GIAC) is a state-of-the-art facility that offers top-of-the-line fitness, exercise, and training amenities. This 100,000-square-foot complex includes the Arn '76 and Nancy Tellem Fitness Center, the Calvin Gooding '84 Arena, the Thomas Glasser '82 Hall of Achievement, and the Swan Multipurpose Room, among other features.
The GIAC, which opened in October 2005, is the first green building at Haverford College and is one of the few LEED gold-certified collegiate athletic facilities in the country. Designed by the renowned architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the Gardner Center serves as a memorial to three former Haverford College student-athletes and alumni who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
