"As an actor it was amazing to have such a fun, informational, comprehensive class at such a great price. They car about every student so much and the class I took was incredible! Do yourself a favor and PLEASE take their courses! You’ll love it!"
"Our workshop flew by. Benjamin's articulate fluency in trauma-informed work creates a supportive environment for exploring your own vulnerability. There aren't many people who can facilitate this kind of experience. Broken Mirror is a boon to the creative community, and you don't need to be an actor to grow from this instruction!"
"Ben is a remarkable facilitator and instructor. As someone who hasn't had a ton of acting experience, I was anxious about entering into an 8-week course filled with season actors. However, Ben cultivates an environment that is so open and grounded that anyone, regardless of previous training, can succeed. They offer a refreshing sense of care and excitement to the work, and are incredibly tuned into the students and their individual needs. Ben's course not only made me feel more confident in performing, but truly reignited my creative practice. It was the highlight of my week and I can't recommend it enough!"
"I recently had the pleasure of taking part in Broken Mirror Studio's transformative Balinese mask workshop. As an avid teacher and practitioner of clown and yoga, I was thrilled at the opportunity to explore parts of myself I hadn't yet accessed through Balinese mask. The workshop far exceeded my expectations. Ben created a safe, welcoming environment where we could play and experiment without judgement. They invited us into the workshop through a really grounding, trauma-informed experience. Their expertise in Balinese mask work, history, and influence was evident as they skillfully guided us through a short history lesson, rhythmic movement exercises, and explorations with the exquisitely hand-carved masks. Each mask seemed to have its own soul, and wearing them allowed me to step into different personas and energies. Ben encouraged us to engage fully, and the results were profound. I gained deep insights into myself, became more attuned to my body's expressions, and developed a healthier relationship with my ego. The entire experience was mystical and empowering. I walked away with greater confidence, sensitivity, and stillness. Ben is a gifted teacher with a rare talent for bringing out the best in their students. I cannot recommend this workshop highly enough for anyone looking to connect more deeply with themselves."
"I took Ben Bass's Non-Dominant Actor course this summer and had a wonderful experience. Before the class began, we had a conversation where Ben asked the question: "if acting was a person, how would you describe your relationship with them?" I believe I said something along the lines of "I know I care about them a lot, but I really don't know them that well. I want to get to know them more and get to know our relationship more." The Non-Dominant approach felt like a door thrown wide open. I am so appreciative of Ben's approach to the classroom and to the craft. It's really helped in opening up an entirely new relationship to acting– one that feels healthy, curious, and exciting. I'll return to Broken Mirror if when I next have the chance, and keep what I've learned with me."
