"Tyra Berger is the most uncaring, unprofessional therapist I’ve ever come across. I’d never recommend her to anybody. Our first introductory session went well. But, following the end of our 2nd session is where the red flags started to rear their head. 1. During our 2nd session, I found she wasn’t putting much effort into building a rapport with me/ getting to know me. I would offer up information about my personal life and she’d have very little to contribute; no relevant follow up questions, etc. 2. She ended our 2nd session 15 minutes early which I found odd, she didn’t even ask if I had anything else to share/ if I was okay with ending the session early before doing so. I would’ve brought these issues up to her to resolve, but I decided I no longer wanted or needed to see her following this. To make matters worse; she’s unethical. On June 14th, 2023 she emailed me stating there was an issue with my insurance covering my appointments. I told her I would look into it and get the issue resolved, I contacted my insurance company and they took the steps to remedy said issue. This would require a resubmission of claims and since I hadn’t heard anything from my therapist or my insurance company I assumed I was all set. August 31st, 2023 I got an email from Tyra stating my card on file had been charged an obscene amount of money due to my insurance not covering my appointments after submitting multiple claims. When communicating my dissatisfaction with the lack of communication from her (i.e. I would’ve appreciated being told the claim was denied more than once and that my card would be charged as a warning.) she stated this is part of her policy. This “policy” is unethical — being charged without so much as a bill or verbal warning prior is asinine. The least she could’ve done is communicate she would charge me over $200, beforehand. On October 20th, 2023 after having to reach out multiple times for an update, Tyra realizes she made a mistake when resubmitting my claim, thus overcharging me for my 1st session. She then, refunds me $104.97, however, no apology or accountability was taken. Now, I needed to rectify being overcharged for my second session. Throughout this long and drawn out process Tyra was not updating me, nor replying to emails in a timely manner. To make matters worse, when having correspondence about the details of my explanation of benefits, she had the audacity to reply to me with this disrespectful message; “ FOR THE 5/13 SESSION! ON THE LINE FOR 5/27 THERE IS NOTHING THAT SAYS PAID OR WAS PAID OR A COPAY. “ I was shocked to have received this message. Despite me being very professional throughout this process, Tyra couldn’t keep her composure- extremely unprofessional. I finally got this situation cleared up with my insurance company and now had the proof my copay should’ve been $5. I sent the document over to Tyra so I could receive my refund to which she replied, “When I receive payment for the session I will refund you. Please do not contact me again.” as if this constant back and forth didn’t stem from her mistakes, overall negligence, and lack of communication. Keep in mind, she already has $114.97 of mine in her possession, she could easily process my refund now considering her negligence. I have screenshots from our email correspondence to corroborate my claims. Her unprofessional replies, lack of compassion, unthorough communication, and unwillingness to correct her wrongdoings shows a lack of integrity and professionalism I feel is bare minimum in any working professional. Save yourself the time and find a therapist who actually cares and isn’t a nasty individual with a skewed moral compass."
