"There are not enough amazing things that I can say about Dr.Khara M. Simpson and her team. She took me on after a horrific consultation with “Dr. Michelle D. Johnson”@ Calvert Obstetrics and Gynecology. Due to the pandemic, our first consultation was virtual, and I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive as I had never had a medical consultation virtually before. I choose Dr. Simpson because I needed a total hysterectomy, and I was looking to have this procedure done robotically (laparoscopic.) We’ve made so many leaps and bounds in medicine and having an open cut hysterectomy is just not the way one should go if at all possible. From the minute Dr. Simpson appeared on my monitor, I felt at ease. I informed her of my horrible experience at Calvert, and instead of spending our visit bad mouthing the other so called “medical professional,” we reviewed my ultra sound, and created a plan to move forward with my treatment. She wanted to see me in person to further assess me, do blood work, and then ultimately get me on the schedule for surgery which I needed ASAP. Not only is Dr. Simpson the epitome of medical excellence and professionalism, her team is as well. They called me often throughout the process, reminding me of appointments, and were more than willing to answer any questions that I had. Every single person that I encountered from our first visit, to me checking out of the hospital exemplified what a perfect medical professional should be. Dr. Simpson took her time answering every question that I had. I did not feel rushed at ALL. She made me feel that I was her only patient (even though I know that she is an extremely busy woman.) She exudes this confidence that was very reassuring for me and I knew instantly that I was in good hands. I went in to for my surgery on 12/10/2020 and I am comfortably typing this review 5 days after surgery. I have NO pain, I was able to stop taking narcotics after the second night and I feel better than I have in a very long time. And I would be remiss if I didn’t thank every member of the surgical team from the OR nurses, to the anesthesiologist/ anesthetist and the nurse who gave me my initial IV, they were all fun, reassuring and extremely professional. As I mentioned, this was my first surgery and for it to be a major surgery, I was extremely nervous and scared. As you know, we are in a pandemic, so I didn’t have the luxury of having my wife there with me holding my hand being the first face I see when I came out of anesthia but that didn’t matter. Dr. Khara called her immediately when the surgery was over and I can’t express to you how much that meant not only to me, but to my wife. She took her time and explained what was done and answered all of my wife’s questions. Then several nurses called her to check in and give status updates until I was up and able to FaceTime her on my own. Such a dynamic team of professionals. I get emotional thinking about how amazing Dr. Simpson and her team were to me because I have heard some horror stories about this type surgery-- but I feel that I had the best experience that anyone could’ve possibly had, from start to finish. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Khara Simpson for any of your gynecology needs. She has improved the quality of my life, and restored my faith in medical professionals. She cares and has a true passion for the work that she does. As a woman, she can relate to our needs and has the type of empathy that it takes to get women through some of their most difficult medical issues and times in their lives. I am so thankful that I choose her, and even more grateful that she accepted.
