"I've trained at this school since I was 6 years old and 19 years later I'm still coming back! Sensei Villafane and Joshu Duck are incredible leaders that can really help you reach your potential. I've carried on the values I've learned from martial arts to my D1 athletic career and even the workplace. Even if you've never stepped foot on a mat, you will still feel welcomed and encouraged to learn and grow at this school. "I absolutely LOVE the Bethlehem school. It gave my boys confidence, courage, strength, discipline, morals, values, high self esteem and etc... The Sensei and Joshu’s take the time to work with the kids, to teach them the skills that most benefit them. I personally couldn’t ask for better instructors. My boys constantly want to stay training and that’s because they are constantly encouraged and motivated by not only their instructors but by their teammates as well. "I’ve been training in the Tiger Schulmann’s family for almost 10 years. I began because of my daughter, I was looking for an extracurricular program for her. I signed her up for the cubs classes on Saturday mornings with Joshu Nikoden and, the now, Joshu Duck. After a few weeks of sitting on the bench watching, I decided to sign up for a trial class myself – the rest is history. Sensei Villafane was a constant encouragement and leader throughout my journey. Helping me focus, not only on my training, but encouraging overall healthy living through nutrition. I went from about 175 lbs to 130 lbs over the course of my training. At some point I showed interest in competing in jiu-jitsu tournaments and he encouraged me to register for our Challenge of Champions tournament. I competed, I lost, he encouraged me to try again. I did – over and over and over again. Through his encouragement, the encouragement of the other instructors and my teammates I now find myself competing and winning in expert division of various jiu-jitsu tournaments. Losts of losses, lots of wins but always a team behind me no matter what. Eventually I showed interest in fighting in kickboxing matches. He again encouraged me and pushed me to meet my goals. He pushed me in the school, he sent me to other schools, he sent me to headquarters, he worked with me and sent me where I needed to go to reach the goals I had set. My daughter is now, at the age of 11, a brown belt who I know is able to confidently defend herself in any situation she encounters. I am now a healthy, second degree black belt, certified instructor, successful jiujitsu competitor and kickboxer with a winning record. Even though there have been so many people within the organization who have played a part in my journey, it all started with Sensei Villafane saying “Hey, why don’t you try a class too?” Best investment I ever made in my daughter and myself."
