"Today had a very poor experience at the Express in White Marsh Mall, MD. The store had several sales going on. I noticed some items were additional 30% and clearance extra 50% off. There were some items without any sales signs at all. I along with a friend selected several items and made our way to the register. I had my Express coupons in hand, but mentioned to the cashier that I knew I could not use the coupons on clearance. She promptly and rudely informed me coupons would not be eligible on any of the items I was purchasing. I turned to my friend and mentioned the policies always seemed to be changing. The cashier then retorted quite RUDELY that for the 7 years she had been working there the policies were the same. I let her know that I knew that coupons could not be used when the store had a 50% of entire store. She again responded it was a store wide sale with either 30, 40, or 50% off and definitely with a serious attitude. As a cashier and an Express representative, even if the customer was incorrect, I think it would be beneficial to the store for the cashier to POLITELY apologize and just explain it in a way that would not be offensive or condescending. To top it all off, you would think that someone with 7 years experience, would apply the 5% discount when a customer is using the Express credit card and not have to be asked about it. And if she did not notice I was using an Express credit card, isn't she supposed to ask me if I want to apply for one? All in all, I think I will give shopping at Express a break and frequent other stores that have more friendly and knowledgeable employees."
