"if you are a minority do not go to this school it is not for you. They cherish the whites and look at minorities as second class citizens"
"Very bad experience and very disappointed to this place. The receptionist always suggested me to ask other preschool and daycares when I want to know more information about this school’s program. The talk between the receptionist and me this afternoon undoubtedly prove that they are not welcome minorities. So ugly."
"Saint James is an amazing school. Three-time Blue Ribbon of Excellence award winner - the only school in Virginia that can make that claim. The way the entire leadership, faculty, and staff stepped up during COVID to keep the school open is the ultimate testament to their dedication to the welfare and education of the children at the school."
"As a person of color I can say that Saint James has no diversity. This is not something that the school will dispute. It does not exist and the environment is extremely challenging for minorities."
"May daughter, Jeannette (Jeannie) Rivera, attended St. James from 1989 to 1998. Today she is a special education teacher, a wife and a very faithful Catholic. She attributes her vocation to teach to her father. However, she attributes her strong faith to the IHM sisters who taught at St. James during her years there. Her 7th grade was especially difficult, as her mother died that year. The very first people to come to our home to offer their support and prayers were the sisters, led by Sr. Janet Regina. The sisters were available to Jeannette and later to her brother, Julian. Julian was a student with special needs. Sister Joan took him under her wings. Under her guidance he thrived. Today he is a professional artist and a man of faith. To summarize, St. James School was a true faith community when my children, now adults, were there. May it continue to be so. Brother Jay Rivera, FFV Superior of Franciscan Brothers of Life"
