"A great place to eat and have a drink on the main drag in honesdale Pennsylvania. Take time to walk around. There's a lot of history in the place from the early days till present. The staff was very nice and attentive. Food was good. Drinks were a fair price. Did they have a pretty good menu. Lots of different options. You definitely won't be disappointed. Plenty of on street parking but you need to feed the meter"
"First time visitor to Honesdale. We had a two bedroom apartment type unit that you had to access from the outside from the back of the building. There is plenty of space for 6 in the room, has a full size fridge and gas stove to cook if you choose. The room has a fresh coat of paint and is clean but is in need of an update. The carpet is stained, should be replaced. Otherwise, its fine and works for us. Price was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. One thing that is out of their control is the noise from the road. Our unit bordered Main Street and it was quite loud with vehicular traffic from 5am until midnight it seemed. I had trouble staying asleep. An inside unit would have been best and I will make the switch when I return to the area. We ate at Bistro 1202 downstairs - see separate review. It was excellent, highly recommend it."
"I can’t believe this is considered a 3 star hotel! I would compare it to a Red Roof Inn that rents by the hour. While it is a historic hotel, it still needs to be a functioning hotel. The outlets have notes that you can’t use them. They have an extension cord plugged in, and you are supposed to use that. The rooms are dark which I think is intentional, so you can’t see how dirty they are. My two granddaughters and I stayed in Room 201, so we had to hear a drunk patron who did not want to leave the bar. This arguing took place at 1am. When I was checking out, I shared some of my feedback with the front desk clerk. He told me that he wasn’t there last night and couldn’t do anything because he wasn’t the manager. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told she was on the phone. Lodger beware! Don’t waste your money to stay here. If you do, you will need a round of antibiotics and a tetanus shot."
"I am incredibly disappointed by the rooms in the hotel. For being historic, the rooms are in need of renovation from plumbing, electrical, ceilings, carpets. The bathroom had dirty, wet ceiling tiles; the sink was coming off the wall and toilet ran. The shower turned scalding with any water, from any room. The 3rd floor hallway tiles were bowed and full of water. I have not yet investigated who the owner is or where they reside, but without care, the hotel will disintegrate within years."
"Our experience today at lunch was so bad I can’t even give this place one star. When we arrived, there was one other table, we waited one hour for food. The waitress said that she actually had to go in the back and started on our order because we waited so long and offered a discount. The chef came out to explain that she received eight tickets at once and it was her and another person, and she simply couldn’t handle it. Again, I had to go into the restaurant to get catch up because we asked for repeatedly, and it was never brought to the table so I could go in and get it myself. The waitress came out again, offered a discount, and the chef came out the ad basically said too bad so sad when I said I would give this place a bad review she said go ahead they’re used to it they get so many bad reviews and your customers continue to come. Just the worst horrible experience I’ve ever had at the dining establishment"
