"Made an appt in Feb, the appt kept being rescheduled by them with no phone call or notification to ask what time worked for us. We finally got an appt time and date that worked for us after calling, showed up the day that we were scheduled for (with email proof) and they were clueless that we were coming. The lady that helped us that day was nice and scanned in all our documents and advised that our preparer would begin working on it after the main tax season ended. Which was fine, we needed to file amended returns for 2 different years due to documents we received late. Months have gone by and we hadn't heard anything, no calls, emails, or any communication. My husband and I finally had time to stop in today during their online posted business hours to find the doors locked. We called the number, it rang and rang. Finally someone picked up but it was someone from the Potomac Mills location. We explained the situation and asked if they could see what was going on with our situation. After finally locating our documents and seeing everything that was scanned in, they advised that the Stafford location is only open during peak tax season and doesn't hold regular hours otherwise. This isn't posted anywhere that I've found on their website, isn't posted on the doors, wasn't advised when we dropped off our documents, and the phone system doesn't tell you either. So we had no way of knowing this location closes seasonally. We asked who was working on our taxes and they advised that no one had touched them and no one was even assigned to them. For them to be a large company, I expected better and will likely never utilize HR Block again. We'll be finding a small business CPA to handle our taxes from here on out."

"Normally, I have average to good experience with H&R Block putting them at a 4 to 4 1/2. However, this experience was downright stressful, time consuming, and filled with miscommunication. I can only hope H&R Block addresses their front staff problems and organizes the online submission to a tax professional better. As stated earlier, H&R block is usually better than this. But I cannot in good conscience this time review them higher."

"I uploaded documents months ago. I have messaged my preparer and another associate for months. I have now been ghosted since the beginning of April. I obviously had concerns as we got close to 18 April. I call, there is no answer, and then I am forwarded to customer service. The suggestion being that I stop by the location, continue calling, or schedule a call back several days from now. I am not paying for a service, just to organize it myself."

"My preparer was late to both meetings - 20 minutes or so the first time due to other clients, but the second time she literally walked into the building after we'd already been waiting 10 minutes. She did not apologize for this either time. The "price transparency" the company strives for was also NOT exemplified by my experience - we were told one price at our first appointment, show up to the next when everything was done and my bill was an extra $130, over 30% higher than the original quote. My partner was also charged an extra $30. The preparer did not tell us this ahead of time, and when I asked about it, her explanation was confusing - a form she entered and then could not delete? She also did not respond to any of our emails we sent. We picked her because on the website she had 10 years of experience listed, but in the office on her computer screen saver it said only 3 years. During our appointment other employees came into the office to sift through papers and ask our preparer questions, which I found completely unprofessional. Overall we had a fairly complex tax situation and she got the job done in a week, answered our questions during the meetings, and she returned all our paperwork at the end. She was decently personable aside from the tardiness and non-responsiveness to email, and the front desk lately was also nice. That said, I will not be returning here again."
