"You can’t even get on the phone with somebody to make an appointment and once you do, they’re booked out for weeks so hope you aren’t calling due to illness or infection! Even when you call during their “phone hours” it still doesn’t connect you and says that you called outside of their “phone hours”. I called at 2:45 on a Saturday afternoon and was given that automated message that it was outside of regular phone hours but the phone hours are until 3:30 on Saturdays so I’m confused? I used to love this office but I haven’t been there in months despite being sick several times (I have an autoimmune disease and require frequent visits) because it’s literally IMPOSSIBLE to get in. I agree with what another commenter said, Penn Medicine should be embarrassed attaching their name to this establishment."
"I had good experience with Penn Primary Care Lansdale. It was easy to get an appointment at a convenient time after work. When I got there the receptionist was very helpful and polite. I only waited a few minutes. The nurse was very friendly and quickly measured my weight, height, blood pressure and temperature and quickly updated my records. Dr Detweiler was very knowledgeable about my health history and we could accomplish what I was looking for in a short time. I was in and out in no time. On the way out I could set up my next appointment for next year."
"I’ve been a patient with this practice for over 10 years, and I have watched it slowly and surely become worse and worse. The front line staff are completely incompetent and can’t even get your prescription refilled. I had to call 3 times, with the promise, each time of getting the doctor to call in the refill, before they got it right (and when they finally called it in it was with 0 refills instead of the normal 3-4). Combine this with being on hold for 20-minutes to make an appointment only to be told the next available time is 2-3 weeks away, and this is just too frustrating of a place to deal with. I’m really surprised that Penn wants to attach their name to this place, I’ve always thought higher of them. Quality of care has also decreased as well so if you’re looking for a medical practice I’d look elsewhere!"
"I've been a patient here for over a decade. This practice used to be great when Dr Mehta and Dr Shearer were still here, but they have such a high turnover rate I feel like none of the previous doctors are there anymore and I always see someone new every time I come in. It's impossible to get through to anyone on the phone to make an appointment or for any other reason. I called last night before closing, was placed on hold for several minutes then hung up on right when they closed at 8:01. I left a message with the answering service since it was an urgent matter, waited for a call back today and didn't hear anything, called them back myself and waited on hold for nearly 10 mins without getting a live person on the phone. I feel like I have no choice other than to go elsewhere."
"Horrible waste of my time and complete incompetence from the staff answering the phones! My family initially and then just my children were patients for over a decade when it was Detweiler Family Medicine. I called in to schedule a sports physical for my son and was asked to update his chart with our personal information. I was on the phone for nearly 10 minutes and not once did the staff say they no longer accept our insurance, instead he set up an appointment and explained new staff who would do the physical. I took time out of my day to bring my son there and when checking into his appointment they asked for his insurance card. I was told then by the front desk that they no longer accept his insurance as of last week and that they had just sent letters out tell patients. This is unacceptable. The staff answering phones should be trained to ask for and provide patients with this kind of information. Don't waste people's time or day! I am now so glad we are finding a new doctor's office!"
