"I was there 2 times. It is absolutely terrible. Staff would threaten you and say that they would throw you through walls. They let kids beat you down. They had some fun things but us kids could never ever be ourselves. I was told that someone screaming in my face was a trigger and what one of the staff said was that they’d don’t care. It is out of control"

"I used to live there in the early 80's. And they never let me be myself. They criticized the songs that I liked to sing. And the were going to beat or punish the gay out of me. I do wish that I had stayed in touch with the other kids/residents after I left. But I was so glad to get away from there.. When I lived there the food was good. I even worked in the kitchen with the head person of the kitchen. Her name was Julie. And she treated me like a human being. And always with a smile on her face. I also remember having to take 3 min. Showers because of little water."

"The (majority) of the staff is great! However, the place is disgusting. I was a resident about a year ago, the place was absolutely disgusting and the food was notorious for getting kids sick. My unit had mushrooms growing in the bathroom. Along side the filth, there was a lot of violence on my unit. The other girls were pretty aggressive and the staff have a hard time enforcing anything. Personally, I believe that they have a hard time doing so because so many kids have a rough background."
